A reminder – the original was written by Paul Williams,

who most people only remember for playing Little Enos Burdette in “Smokey & The Bandit”.

He was nominated for an Oscar for “Rainbow Connection”, and actually won the Oscar for writing “Evergreen”, the love theme from Barbra Streisand’s “A Star Is Born”. He’s won multiple Grammys, most recently in 2014 for co-writing on Daft Punk’s Record of the Year, “Random Access Memories”.

Plus, he wrote the “Love Boat” theme.

Good lord, that seems extreme, no? It’s not that bad, right? Honestly, Americans, we all really need you. Our countries (politicians and media that is) like to throw mud at the big guy for easy wins but they only get away with it because the big guy is a good big guy. Do people get away with throwing mud at Russia or China? Would you rather they were the big guy in the schoolyard that is Earth? No, you most certainly do not. We in the smaller western countries are very fortunate that America has the ability to hold up at least as good a version of human freedom as anyone practices. I ask, what would your life be like if we swapped Russia with the USA? I know Canadians would have way worse TV at least.

I don’t think he’d outright call for his supporters to start shooting, but I could see things getting out of control especially if he thinks he’s going down. I hope not. I read in some book about how democracies have been unusually dynamic and resilient relative to other types of governments. I think we’re just on some sort of upheaval wave right now and like them all no one knows when it will crest. My favourite theory is that it’s because of the rapid tech development now going into the biological sphere and the sinister possibilities of racial recognition, etc. How hard would McCarthy be if he had that? Or any of them. And because it’s all just a reboot of all human history with new killing advancements and it’ll never end so nothing matters but I’d at least like my life to be good. Please keep it to get her America. If you Dick it up the next man up is Germany. Great folks. Not a great track record with the reins.

I have construction projects at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, and always enjoy my trips out there, including drives up the mountain to Cloudcroft for Taco Tuesday at the Western Bar and Grill.

The unspoiled land is gorgeous. My mail route takes me to the edge of Meadowlake (no meadows–okay, I guess weeds are meadows, but no lake) where I have a fantastic unobstructed view from only a few miles off the foot of the Sandia Mountains. Every day I see Hercules transports and other bitchin aircraft flying super low as they circle into Kirkland AFB. It’s an impressive sight, especially in wintertime.

And on Monday, I drove past a Chihuahua strolling up a residential dirt road with a used rubber dangling from its muzzle.

One of my favorite rides is from Artesia on US 82 West to Cloudcroft. I’ve spent a lot of time driving and camping in the Lincoln National Forest north of Guadalupe Mtns Nat Park. I would love to live out in that part of the world permanently. NO FUCKING PEOPLE!!!
