NFL Notes:
- Reminder: the Franchise Tag window opens tomorrow.
- Teams have two weeks to designate an eligible player, which should be lots of fun.
- The PI Challenge Rule might be gone before the next season starts.
- In the annual postseason survey taken by the nine-member NFL Competition Committee, teams came out overwhelmingly agent retaining the PI replay rule that was instituted for the 2019 season.
- The NFLPA forwarded the proposed new CBA to the full membership for an eventual vote.
- The PA executive voted 17-14 (1) to pass it along. Because it wasn’t a 2/3 vote in support, there is no voting recommendation being added to the info.
- Included in the latest proposal are the option to expand to a 17-game regular season, an increase in players’ share of total revenue to at least 48 percent, and the expansion of the playoff field to 14 teams beginning in 2020.
- Owners agreed to remove a $250K cap on the 17th game check for existing contracts, but rejected a proposal to shorten the offseason. Otherwise, they made no concessions.
- But someone who publicly opposes it? Russell Wilson.
The @NBA & @MLB are doing it right.
Players come first.ALL @NFL players deserve the same.
WE should not rush the next 10 YEARS for Today’s satisfaction.
I VOTE NO.

A delightful day in the classroom unfolded when the class I was told I was substituting in – Math 11 – turned out to be a tad harder than I expected – Pre-Calculus 12. After five minutes I just looked at the kids & said “I can’t do this. I’mma go find you a qualified teacher.”

They were stunned. When queried, I told them I likely could fake it for another 10-15 minutes, but after that I was lost. “In teaching,” I said, “there are two ways to go about your business. You can teach the things you know, or you can admit you don’t know the thing you are teaching. I don’t want to have the other teacher get mad that I did it wrong, so I’ll employ the three hardest words for any person to say, but really shouldn’t be: ‘I don’t know’.”
So I found them a teacher who could actually work with the material, and I taught the remainder of that person’s Math 10 class, which was definitely more my speed. The moral of the story is that you can walk away, as long as you have a plan to resolve the issue.

It turned out to be a good day, as I acquired tickets to the Pet Shop Boys / New Order concert in September. That gives six months to grow out & feather my mullet.
