AFL 2021 Finals Week 2 Recaps

Geelong Cats 103 – 68 GWS Giants

It was a much different performance this week from the Cats than last week. The same could be said for the Giants as they were missing Toby Greene and others through injury. The Giants fought hard but ultimately couldn’t overcome the challenges they faced.

Here are the highlights:

Brisbane Lions 78 – 79 Western Bulldogs

For the second week in a row, the second match of the weekend ends up being a 1 point game with a thrilling finish!

Here are the highlights in Mini Match format!

Balls Sechs

  • Brisbane’s shock loss at home to the Doggies will have reverberations beyond this season. Last season, the Grand Final was in Queensland and they couldn’t get there. This season, they had a home final and lost. That’s not good.
  • Hopefully, the Giants’ loss will convince the AFL to drop their appeal of the Toby Greene penalty. He will end up missing the first two games of next season and that’s a pretty harsh punishment already.
  • The Doggies are still in it and playing extremely well. The match against the Power will be exciting to watch as both teams like to run up and down the field. I have no idea who will win.
  • The Geelong-Melbourne game is also difficult to predict. The Demons won in Geelong a few weeks ago. However, it took a massive comeback from 44 points down to do it. What does that mean for this game? No one knows.
  • The Grand Final has been officially given to Perth. It will be held on September 25th at a time to be determined.
  • The Match of the Round next week is probably Port-Western. That seems like a really even matchup and it will be an exciting game to watch!

Balls somehow lost his bio and didn't realize it. He's now scrambling to write something clever and failing. He likes butts, boobs, most things that start with the letter B, and writing in the Second Person. Geelong, Toluca, Barcelona, and Steelers, in that order.

Well, at least the team that sent Essendon packing didn’t immediately get blown out in the next round. I guess I’ll root for the Cats the rest of the way through in solidarity with Balls.

Thank you! So many used fleshlights my den will smell like the room for the Houston 500.

Toby being out was a big factor, but so was Hogan being an injury scratch right before the opening tip. He’s been a huge factor when he’s been able to play, and Himmelberg just can’t carrying this forward line.

Oh and Sam Taylor is an awesome player who had an amazing season, including locking down/containing Buddy Franklin in the two crucial matches against the Swans down the stretch, but he got outworked and outplayed vs Geelong.

And it’s not Toby level, but Tom Hawkins is dirty too, right?
