Game 4 of the Mann Cup was played Tuesday night, between the Lakers and the Thunder, and yours truly was in attendance as I have season tickets with a friend. We sit almost dead centre just a few rows from the top of the lower bowl. They are great seats.
I’ve been meaning to mention this but the bra waving lady is back. She waives the bra around after every Laker goal. I couldn’t find her during the regular season, but she’s back for playoffs. It’s entirely possible that I missed her in the regular season as she’s moved seats. Her waving the bra is my avatar, if you look closely. I’ve been told that she gives out chocolate bars, but a) I’m not going to take candy from her and b) I’m a tall human so it’s prob saved for the kids. Unknown if it’s a Big Turk or not.
Man, I love Peterborough. ❤️🥍 pic.twitter.com/wQdNkrQeun

While we’re on the subject of people in the crowd, it’s such a weird crowd in that I’m in my late 40’s and I’m bringing down the average age. There are so many old people there you would think that it was bingo night. But for the most part they are knowledgeable fans and get loud enough. I’m much more used to lacrosse being a younger group. And it’s awesome when the crowd starts its own chants to get the players going. Not like the constant songs from lessor football, but better than most lacrosse crowds.
On to the game:
First period:
As usual, Langley got the first goal and Peterborough answered 16 seconds later. From there both teams when on little 2 or 3 goal runs to end the first period with a 6-6 tie. It was some good back and forth lacrosse action.
This goal by Mark Matthews is awesome. The swim move to start, and then to be able to reach over Scigliano, who is listed at 6′ 7″, for the goal, while on full run just shows the skill of these players.

Second period
The Lakers opened the scoring in the second and the Thunder would answer about 2 minutes later. From there Peterborough went on a 3 goal run to open the score to 10-7. Langley would get a few back and the Lakers added one more to lead 11-10 going into the second intermission.
More player skill and athletism here, to beat your defender and then to be able to hit that top corner on the run is just awesome. Also, the camera angle shows a lot more net than you would see down at floor level.

Third period
Robert Church open the scoring in the third on the power play. Peterborough’s offense then went to work and put 3 goals past Scigliano and the defence kept Langley off the board for almost 14 minutes of game time to make the score 14-12. Tutton did a great job on the forecheck and got a much deserved empty net goal to seal the win for the Lakers 15-12.
I”m not sure
Dane Dobbie lead the Thunder with 3 goals and 5 assists, while Curtis Dickson had 4 and 3. While still trying hard it does feel like this team is starting to wear down. Being on the road for a week now, sleeping in a strange bed and eating hotel food does not help recovery after a game.
Joe Resetarits lead the Lakers with 2 goals and 6 assists. This series would prob be over if both Joe and Thomas Hoggarth aren’t back. I’m guessing that neither is at 100% from their illnesses yet, but they are still delivering when needed. Shawn Evan had a goal and 6 assists to now tie John Tarvares with the record of most points scored in the Mann Cup at 203 points.
It’s now a best of 3 series. Can’t wait. I’ve also looked around for stats on goals and the like, but there’s no consolidated list. I can get game sheets or each player individually, no big list, so not sure I’ll be able to provide any series stats.

Hulk SMASH in Shempions
That Game 2 fuckery seems to have put some cayenne in the Lakers’ collective jock. P-Lakers in 6, chuh chuh
yep, it should be 3-1 Lakers, but whatever, they need to fill the net and stay out of the penalty box.
