Game 5 of the Mann Cup was played Wednesday night, between the Lakers and the Thunder, and yours truly was in attendance as I have season tickets with a friend. We sit almost dead centre just a few rows from the top of the lower bowl. They are great seats.
As the days and nights are starting to get a bit cooler, I have noticed on my drive up that the leaves are starting to turn and there are some pretty looking spots. As this doesn’t last long, and this means that winter will soon be here, I’ll enjoy it for as long as I can.
Last night was also my game night, in my old man lacrosse league. I won’t ever be doing a BC Dick-esk write up of that as I’ve already said more than needed about the league. Trying to run around and throw and catch without contact makes me appreciate how skilled these teams are. The number of bad passes and missed\dropped catches in our games is just ridiculous.
I was mistaken in yesterday’s post when I said that Shawn Evans had broken the Mann Cup scoring record. He only tied the record at 203 points. Not to worry, he broke it last night with 4 assists on the night. The point to break the record was a great play with Joe Resetarits in the 2 man game to set Joe free.
Congratulations to Shawn Evans for passing John Tavares for All-Time Mann Cup Points !

Glad I was able to capture history!@MajorSeriesLax @PtboLakersLax @LacrosseCanada pic.twitter.com/jGcSn92Spa
On to the game:
First period:
Holden Cattoni got the Lakers off to a good start with 2 goals in 5 minutes of game time. Curtis Dickson was able to get one back for the Thunder. Joe Resetarits then would get 2 goals to start a 4-1 goal run stretching into the second period for Peterborough. Laker lead 4-2 after one.
Second period
With the Laker run continuing from the first period, the Thunder didn’t score until just over 8 minutes left in the period. Mark Matthews would answer back for Peterborough just under a minute later. The teams traded goals to end the second with a score of 8-4 for the Lakers. One of the things that I do like is the game within the game. This 2 man game, with a beautiful pick and roll is about as text book as you can get.

Third period
With the game starting to get out of hand, I expected a much rougher third period, but there were only 2 penalties called in the period on a very questionable high sticking call and then the player complaining about it to the refs to get an Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty. Dane Dobbie got an early marker to make the score 8-5 but that’s as close as they would get as Chad Tutton got a transition goal and then Holden Cattoni got an empty netter to seal the win for the Lakers. 10-5 is your final
Dane Dobbie lead the Thunder with 3 goals, while Connor Robinson had 3 apples.. I would say this team looks tired and worn down. 5 games in 6 nights will do that to you. Hell, I’m tired and I’m just sitting on my butt. Langley took a bunch of penalties due to being out of position from tired legs. Not sure if they will be able to recover for game 6.
Holden Cattoni lead the Lakers with 5 goals and an assist. Joe Resetarits had 2 goals and 2 assists. The Lakers spent a lot of time in the offensive end with many shot clock re-sets due to hard work in the corners and along the boards to recover the ball after the shot. There was a point where the Lakers had 4 resets in a row. That’s a long shift for the defence.
For the first time in the series, a defensive player was named player of the game for each team. Both goalies were the player of the game for each team.
Game 6 recap will be Saturday sometime.

Sorry to just slam dance right into your girlfriends boob but I need a moment.
I wrote the Saints preview a couple of days ago and since “Yeah Right” has traveled to foreign intrigue and left me to my own devices. I have failed miserably in my tech skills.
Finally I am able to log in and do what I wanted to do days ago and thank you guys.

Hail Satan, Let the heavens bleed.
Just watched the most recent House O’ Dragons….
1) Anyone else expecting Hannah Waddingham (owner of the team in Ted Lasso) to play an older Rhaenys Targaryen in the future?
2) Their new theme music should be:

Not that HBO is against recycling actors, but wasn’t she already on the original Thrones show as the “Shame” bell-ringing nun from when Cersei had to walk naked through the streets?
Did I already make a “Kobe!” joke about this footage of a Ukrainian crew using a tank missile to shoot down a helicopter? Well, I’m making it again.
