Due to travel this week I call upon;
Thank you Karen. A pink Audi for you.
Back to travelling for work it seems. Due to this I just paid 5 dollars for a Kit Kat in my hotel. It irked me that it was in a kiosk beside the front desk and not a shame hiding vending machine. “Yeah dude, I’m old, I’m high and desperate for chocolate and will pay for it. Charge it to my room” So much shame.
Since Bleergh declared Covid over I am travelling for my job again. I’m in beautiful Edmonton, Alberta and it is 30 degrees celsius. It is also very hazy because things are on fire very early due to Bill Gates having microchips in all of vaccines.
Something that struck me as odd was the fact that the 2 microbrewery offerings on tap at the dingy hotel bar were from Calgary and not Edmonton which have superb spots. Just a random observation.
I was asked by a colleague today whether I’d venture downtown to watch the Oilers game and I told her that there was zero chance of that happening as I don’t want to get stabbed. Now I’m from a fairly rough place but when you get an unexpected heat wave combined with a Sports success starved city that is rough to begin with. The bartender at the brewery I visited said the outdoor, and indoor viewing parties are a vacuum for the real crazies out there.
You are gunna get knifed mon.
This is still the greatest Scottish sketch comedy show ever.
Our resident Hippo asked me a question of whether I would prefer the Leafs or the Oilers to win Le Coupe Stanley. I told him that I’m a true Canadian and I’d prefer that any American team win over Toronto. It is the Canadian Way. Leaf fans are everywhere up here and they’re worse than anything other than Euro blood feud rival. It is all Leafs, all the time.
Wine tip of the day is that the fattier the food you are consuming, the more that it will mute the wine. This is why when you have a steak it pairs extremely well with a huge red. If you had it with a Pinot it would taste like nothing as it is such a light varietal that your tongue would be coated with fat and your tastebuds would be supremely muted.
Tonight in Sports!
Hoops!
Lakers v Warriors! When Lebron played Steph the last time the game started at 23:30 in St. John’s Newfoundland. That is too late
Hockey!
Panteros v Leaf Nation. Oh would I love a Pantero win. Throw the rats!
My Ayo’s v Stars. Release the Kraken!
Apologies for my brevity. What is everyone’s biggest pet peeve travelling?
This is my best friend Nancy’s daughter. Brave as hell to do this in Alabama.

Agh. Horrible. However, she is not alone. She might want to read these interviews (or not, I’m not sure. I’m just a guy. But interesting – and sad – at the hoops she had to go through, and she lived in NY)

The Warriors play some sexy ball. And LeBron just keeps being a big fucking baby, expecting preferential treatment from the refs. Just pathetic. He needs to retire already.
Today in utterly unsurprising conclusions: guess which NBA team a racist troll cheers for?
incredible interaction with a troll on twitter today | TikTok
Found Kevin McHale’s burner account.
This basketball game is not competitive. I’m going to watch a Korean show about a sexy goblin and his teenaged bride instead.
Question for all of the smart readers out there:
Should I identify as disabled on job applications?
It’s not visible, but I had a very damaging brain tumor when I was 4, and I have a VP Shunt. Basically, that means that I require brain surgeries when that shunt fails (every 5-10 years, on average) and those put me out of commission for 4-6 weeks.
I do qualify as disabled, but I don’t know if the stigma would be a negative with employers. I have never identified as disabled, but my last group of brain surgeries was 9 years ago (those were almost fatal because of a complication), and so there might be a need in the near future.
Do you have a handicapped placard from the DMV? If you don’t, I wouldn’t consider it. HR would cross-check that and possibly deduce you’re lying.
No sticker because I’m fine right until I’m not. I.e. when my shunt fails it’s emergency brain surgery and then ~6 weeks of working to get back to functional. I wouldn’t be driving then, or doing much more than moving from bed to couch once out of the hospital, so it felt shitty to do it.
But I can get a handicapped sticker if I want (that feels dirtier than my thoughts about Marika).
Marika understands
I say: bring it up when it’s relevant, and no sooner.
If you need some kind of accommodation? Like, I can’t do this particular task, or I need a break every x hours to attend to this need, then mention that absolutely.
But if once or twice a decade you need a few weeks off? Wait until it happens. Nothing good can come of telling them beforehand. I mean, yes, they could tell you “oh, of course, we totally understand and will support your needs,” but that means precisely nothing, because even if that person is sincere, who knows who’s going to be in charge when it happens?
Otherwise, you’re just inviting them to discriminate against you.
That’s why I’ve never mentioned it to date. I know that I will need a round of surgeries in the next two to three years, though, so I am a little concerned about this coming as a surprise in like 12 months.
You can usually file for FMLA protection after a year on the job, so don’t mention it and then see if you can make it a year on the job before the surgeries.
Fuck My Life…what’s the A stand for again?
Always
You answered your own question. It stands for Again.
Anally.
Act
He’s used to the FMK Act
Don’t feel the least bit guilty about that.
You’re going to need a round of surgeries, and they’ll… have to figure out how to staff around your temporary absence? Oh, the horror!
A year from now, you might hate the job and quit. Or they might lay you off or fire you, and I assure you, they will not agonize about it like you are.
That could happen with any employee. I’m with Dunstan on this, they don’t need to know until/unless they need to know.
Bruins are out. Leafs are down 0-2 going on the road. I’ve had a couple of cocktails and just fried some pierogies in bacon grease. Everything’s coming up Dunstan!
Hey, I also made pierogi and onions in bacon grease tonight!
With a draw last night against Udine, Napoli gets the point they needed to wrap up the Scudetto (Series A title) with 5 games still to play. And Marika is really happy. I’m having coffee with her this morning.
My friend happened to be vacationing in Napoli right now. The pics of him partying are insane.
They are getting after it. First title in 33 years. Back when Maradona was still playing for them.
Argentina is World Cup champion, Napoli is Serie A champion, and Barcelona is about to become La Liga champion.
It’s all coming up Maradona!
Except for the being dead thing.
The few clips I’ve seen of this show make it seem entertaining:

It’s SO good!!
I haven’t enjoyed watching a panther this much since Manimal was on the air.
WOOOOOO!!!!!!
Panteras are really good at breaking out of their zone. That negates the Leafs firepower quite a bit.
I can’t wait to see their Vulgar Display of a Power Play.
It really has been Domination. Makes you wonder how This Love for the Leafs will continue in the Canadiaun meudia.
I’ll bet the arena in Florida will be Fucking Hostile for games 3 and 4.
Hippo will tell you one way to block out noise is Good Friends and Bottle of Pills.

So you’re on the Stars bandwagon because of the goal song right?
Five English-speaking white males are talking about Toronto’s problems. Is it?
1.) A city council meeting in 1930
2.) Conrad Black and four other mega-rich buddies talking about immigration policy
3.) A Sportsnet panel pandering to their viewership.
Yes, all with the same lack of awareness
What’s bad is that TNT is giving us a taste of that here with Bisonette on the panel. Ugh. I remember when hockey commentators at least tried to pretend they weren’t openly cheering for their former teams. (Well, obviously Don Cherry doesn’t count.)
Don Cherry has NEVER counted. What a fucking windbag
PK Subban pissed me the hell off during the first round with his flaunting of the Devils connection. Bro, you were there two seasons and sucked in both of them. Maybe back off a little bit.
I love P.K. but he is very conscious of marketing, and he has a new show coming out so yeah, probably sucking up to the NY audience.
The Leafs are…not exactly justifying my love (like that WHORE Madonna amirite???)
And now you’re an honourary Torontonian.
Well that was kind of wild. My Amazon fire didn’t turn off the music while I was changing to the ESPN app so I thought I was going to get to watch basketball to a soundtrack of “Killing in the Name Of” by Rage Against The Machine

That’s Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, RATM.
(this seems weird on a few levels, and it can’t just be me)
I love this man. Rock and roll hall of fame interview.

Word has it that Robert Smith has been offered the role of Cruella De Ville in the re-re-boot of One Thousand Dalmatians.
Things that make me turgid:
1.) My wife coming home after being away for three days.*

KINKY!!
THIS ROBOT BLOODSPORT, I CALL IT AN UNVACCINATED CHILD BECAUSE IT JUST DIED FROM LOCKJAW
Panthers are playing with intensity. The Leafs are playing with themselves.

Good thing they’ve got their music career to fall back on.
Best girl band of the late ’90’s, hands down.
Leafs Hate Watch. ENGAGE!

The Crazy, Ingenious Plan to Bring Hippopotamus Ranching to America | WIRED
Will that somehow help with the opioid crisis?
Apparently one of the reasons the plan was never implemented was that hippos are ill-tempered and dangerous. But, uh, recent research has indicated that opiates may calm them down. So maybe?
Cocaine Karen needs to calm down and have a sammich.
Biggest traveling peeve? The boarding “process”.
Just get on the goddamn plane, people. JFC.

I hate being tired from everything. Sick of lining up for security, fuck you Pearson. Then the dry plane and lack of room, suck in a seat for few hours, then in line to get off the damn plane to line up for luggage and then a vehicle to line up to check in for a room. To then not sleep well as I don’t sleep well on the road. And then the long days and being “on” for the client for far too long to then get taken out for some shitty dinner to finally get back to the hotel to then work on whatever blew up during the day that can’t wait until I’m back in the office to then have to do it all again the next day.
Oh and fuck connecting flights.
And I never get to go anywhere nice. The best places I got to were Jacksonville and Houston. That’s a pretty low bar
As Buddha said: “Be ‘on’ with your surroundings. Strive to be equally insufferable in all platforms.”
