Your Oh So Hot Double-Heading NFL Football Football Open Thread

Not one but two tilters tonight mes amis. For non-fans of these teams this might be a bit difficult but I’m going to give it a try. But let’s take a look around the league and see what’s going on.

Tidbits:

-Corey Davis, in what some would call a fit of sanity, has decided to ‘walk away’ from the game at 28. We see this happen more and more. I didn’t really see many details/explanations but some folks just value their health, mental and/or physical. Over The Cap tells me he’s earned just over 52 million in six years and I think he just wants to spend some quality time with his money.

-Jeudy, Jeudy, Jeudy: They say it’s but a hammy thingy but he was carted off the field. All I know is that wr’s and damaged hamstrings do not a good match make. It seems as though every wideout that has a hammy inevitably reinjures it. Good luck.

-Isiah Simmons, the ‘do everything’ defensive piece that scouts were drooling over back in 2020 has been sent to the Giants for a bakers dozen of doughnuts. (a 7th rounder) I guess he made some demands as to what position he should play and then messed up on the field last week, allowing two TD’s to be scored.

-In Your Face!: Sam Darnold has won the backup qb spot for the Niners. [cue Redemption Arc music please…]

To The Games!

Steelers/Falcons:

-No starters are playing for ATL so we don’t even get another quick peek at Bijan. Guh!

-Pitt has been mentioned as being in the running for the Trey Lance, uh, what’s opposite or adjacent to ‘sweepstakes’? GM Lynch says he’s not going anywhere but can you trust the word of a man that traded three(!) first round picks away so that he could draft Trey Lance?

-What to look for? Atlanta has been penalized up the wazoo this preseason so maybe cheer for less whistles? Jeebuz.

Colts/Eagles:

-The most exciting thing regarding Indy is JT shopping his wares around the league, trying to secure a deal before Tuesday.

-It’s just a matter of time before Irsay says another dumb, petulant thing and makes things worse than they are.

-Tuesday is also Drop Dead Day for over 1,000 players eager to make a living destroying their bodies. That dream will die or perhaps be resuscitated on the waiver wire or on a practice squad.
