Good evening. I spent the weekend away and then a couple of hours today at the beach doing nothing, just getting some sun and letting the breeze do its thing. It was exactly what I needed. On to business,

GRANDES LIGAS
Yesterday, while hanging with my cousins (die-hard baseball fans), I watched the Y*nk*s choke at Tampa Bay, and the Twines @ Bravos that followed was pretty entertaining too. It was very gratifying to see the Majors full of Hispanics thriving after making it through the farm system, unlike in agricultural farms because, you know…
I saw the current extra innings, 2d Baseman Gimmick in the NYY @ TB bullpen dam breaks yesterday. My take: Not disgusted. It helped that I had already seen World Baseball Classic games use those for extra innings, so no shock this time around. In fact, my first concern was about extra inning pitching stats getting screwy with an automatic man on second, and sent me into a delightful daydream about another gasket blowing for baseball purists and stat extremists.
I’ll take the promise of action over contemplation every time muchesgracias. I’m cool with the free base runner in extras. And AND: love the pitching clock. It’s even a nice cue to tie a really long story in case anything happens. “Ball, that’s outside. Batter twitched tho. Anyway, one of the cops had my underwear…”
Viva el béisbol. Especially if you can talk shit all through a game with fun folks or josh serious fans with constant annoying, Spongebob-style.

Rosario Centrral v. Instituto (Córdoba) – 6:30
Bolivia
Jorge Wilstermann v. ABB – 6:30
Who? To the Wiki P!
Jorge Wilstermann was formed in 1949 by workers from Lloyd Aéreo Boliviano, a German-Bolivian air transport consortium planes thing. In 1953 the club was renamed Jorge Wilstermann, to honor the first Bolivian commercial pilot. His name was Gualberto Cerrillos–JK jk. The first Bolivian commercial pilot was Capt. Wilstermann, from the Cochabamba Wilstermanns, no doubt.
ABB is the Academia del Balompié Boliviano founded in 1985 and have a whiff of [inhales, gets into trance] wet leather and carpetbaggin’ about them. This is ABB’s first stint in the Bolivian top league. And, from experience, the only folks in LATAM who say balompié instead of fútbol are those who know nothing of fútbol. Plus ABB’s Wiki entry, en español, treads the fine line between sparse and cursory.
