The silver linings for me this weekend are that I lost more weight, not in a good way and I watched the Leafs lose.  So my day has been enlivened by the various flavors of schadenfreude from online media about the collapse.  Of course Urinating Tree’s is the best:

So, I have binged watched many videos and they have made me a much happier man.  As I have said before, I don’t have teams I like, I have teams I hate watch.  And thanks to the wise and sagacious observations of the Leafs’ and their fans by the enlightened gentlemen and women of this fine establishment.  Funny but I do think of this place as a cross between Callahan’s’ Cross Time Saloon and Cheers.  So, I have adopted the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club as my most hated hockey team (Penguins are second).

What team in a sport would you go out of your way to hate watch, especially if you are positive they will lose? (Sorry Horatio, but always Dallas CowBoys for me).

Baseball is on as it is every night.  And I think the 325th week of the NBA playoffs is happening tonight.  Only 6 more months till we get a champion!

I’m on a work computer now, so I expect it not to work most of the time, but it randomly does for some images. I don’t know about that, but this is a giant wholesale market that’s a large city block long.

I don’t remember the specific detail but I do recall flabbergasting a third grade teacher with a (Roman?) history tidbit that I gleaned from reading those cartoons.

/one thing I do recall was getting a sucker as a prize because of all the things starting with ‘Ess’ in a picture, I was the only one to identify ‘sceptre’. I peaked real early.

I also have a story of 3rd grade success. My table got the first slices of pie because I made the most words out of the letters in ‘Mississippi Mud Pie’.
I had more than double the number of second place, and the guy who had the second most was the teacher’s favorite so it took all the students at my table yelling about how many words I had to make her reluctantly give us the first pie.

Now that I’m thinking back I remember that all the kids knew this particular teacher liked little boys a lot more than little girls, and while I don’t know whether that was actually true it’s kinda messed up that a whole class of third graders thought this and accepted it as the way the world worked.

I had like 40+ words though so hell yeah we got the first pie!

I mean, I don’t hate the team as much love to watch their fans sit through a loss.

I didn’t even watch ASU lose to Texas in the CFP semis and I’m still basking in the we got jobbed of this subsequent offseason mood. But any SEC student section in a loss warms me inside.

In the pros? Maybe the Dodgers? Or Yankees? It’s hard — there’s so few differences between professional sports teams I hate versus those I do not hate.
