INT. THEATER DEPARTMENT – NIGHT
Our recently unmasked villain DAN SNYDER stumbles forward, having been blinded by RACHEL DUNBARTON having thrown a black velvet cloak over his head and been kicked in the back by ANGIE MARTINEZ. HUNTER RENFROW steps aside and sticks out his foot, tripping DAN SNYDER and sending him sprawling forward where he collides headfirst with…
[EDITOR’S NOTE: That’s right, for some reason when Microsoft CoPilot generated this image more than eighteen months ago it saw fit to include the name “York” on the tombstone for some reason. HOW DID IT KNOW?]
ANGIE MARTINEZ deftly slips free of the loop of rope that she had intentionally wrapped around her wrists, and drops to the floor. The three students gather to stare at DAN SNYDER lying prone on the ground.
HUNTER RENFROW: Wow. Looks like he got his bell rung pretty good.
ANGIE MARTINEZ: Oh, I’m sure it’s nothing a Miami doctor couldn’t fix.
RACHEL DUNBARTON picks up the rubber sword and pokes DAN SNYDER with it. He begins quivering and clutching his fists to his chest.
RACHEL DUNBARTON: Oh neat, the fencing response, I’ve never seen that before!
ANGIE MARTINEZ picks up the hunting knife from where it had fallen on the floor.
ANGIE: Should we…finish him off?
HUNTER: No, no, that would be cold-blooded murder.
ANGIE: [glances around] Yeah, plus too many cameras.
HUNTER: Let’s just tie him up – properly, mind you – and let the police deal with him.
RACHEL: You think they’re actually going to show up?
DJ 3000′ [O/S]: THEY’RE ACTUALLY ALREADY HERE. HUNTER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SPEND THE NEXT FOUR HOURS ANSWERING QUESTIONS, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY SNEAK OUT THE BACK DOOR AND GET THESE GIRLS HOME. THEIR PARENTS ARE PROBABLY WORRIED SICK.
ANGIE: Not mine, they’re out of town.
RACHEL: Hey what a coincidence, mine are too.
All three stand in silence for a moment. The mood in the room seems to change.
RACHEL: And actually, I’m not really ready for the night to end.
ANGIE: Me neither.
RACHEL DUNBARTON takes a step closer to HUNTER RENFROW, then leans against him.
RACHEL: Plus…there’s something that’s supposed to happen on Prom Night that hasn’t happened yet.
ANGIE MARTINEZ brushes up against HUNTER RENFROW from the other side.
ANGIE: That’s right, Hunter. After all of this, we’re all pretty keyed up. We can’t just be going straight to sleep.
HUNTER RENFROW swallows, and then takes a deep breath.
HUNTER: Ladies, you’ll never believe this…but I’ve got an idea.
CUT TO:
INT. RECORDING STUDIO – DAY
HUNTER RENFROW remains plugged into the VR simulation while DJ 3000′ and the PRODUCER look on in concern.
PRODUCER: Is this supposed to be happening?
DJ 3000′: YES, IT’S THE END CREDITS SEQUENCE. HE HAD ME WRITE IT INTO THE GAME AS A REWARD FOR DEFEATING THE ANTAGONIST AND SAVING THE GIRLS.
PRODUCER: Oh. So…what do we do?
DJ 3000′: WELL FOR NOW I GUESS WE MAYBE GIVE HUNTER A LITTLE PRIVACY. MAYBE WE’LL LISTEN TO A BIT OF MUSIC?
PRODUCER: Sure, sure. Hey, maybe we could…
DJ 3000′: [interrupts] SO IN HONOR OF OUR SURVIVING PROTAGONISTS, I THOUGHT WE COULD DO SONGS ABOUT THE NUMBER “THREE”.
PRODUCER: Okay.
DJ 3000′: BUT ALSO COMBINATIONS OF SONGS THAT ADD UP TO THREE.
PRODUCER: I’m not sure I understand.
DJ 3000′: NO PROBLEM – I’LL GET US STARTED WITH A LITTLE DEMONSTRATION. WE START WITH “U2” AND THEN WE ADD “ONE”.
Today’s theme is “Threesomes”. We’re looking for songs whose titles mention the number three OR combinations of songs (and band names, etc.) that add up to the number three (i.e. 2+1 or 1 + 1 + 1). Please post links as “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT3rP0L”. Last week’s puzzle answer of “Fight Like a Brave” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was ably solved by SonOfSpam. Now let’s go look for paradise by the dashboard lights!
