I try to cook all my meals if I can, but sometimes you get back from airport traffic to an empty fridge, don’t feel up to playing Quickfire Challenge with the pantry/freezer, and all there is to do is make a cold martini and order Thai food.

Actually, one time I varied from this, and it was a big mistake. I can’t remember what I ordered.

Here’s my problem with Thai food. I ordered a green papaya salad in Bangkok at a very nice mall food court and it was SO FUCKING SPICY that I couldn’t eat more than two bites.

It’s nice when I get interviewers with a technical/academic background for behavioUral interviews. They understand the sorts of challenges that I’m asked to tell a story about because they’ve probably run into something similar, while the non-technical people were probably the ones causing those challenges in the first place 😛

I feel like I’m starting to get more practiced at some of the interview specific skills, so fingers crossed. I actually really like the companies I’m talking to right now, none of them are Big Tech which makes a surprisingly big difference. I have final rounds with United and Disney over the next couple weeks, and two more rounds with GM

When I do have to interview people for a more technical interview, I usually have them tell me about a few things from their CV that they are proud of any why. This helps them talk about something they know and to put them at ease a bit.
And I usually recommend people that I’d like to know better and/or have a drink with. I get that’s prob wrong and old school but we’re a small team and will be working with these people so want people I can get along with

See, I don’t mind that approach. Much more natural than using a specific system of communication that was invented specifically for interviews, and probably more predictive of success in the workplace.

I’ve mentioned the latter’s possible OCD before but I didn’t mention that he would only go to a movie if he could sit in an aisle seat. Why? So he could dribble a basketball while watching. Arizona at ASU tonight. UA beat ASU by 45 a couple weeks ago in Tucson. It’s the largest margin of defeat in the rivalry history. Hurley is in perpetual “beat Arizona THIS time and we’ll excuse you into the First Four” position, in part, because ASU has no Athletic Director heading into major conference realignment as a pockmarked tag-a-long to your big brother, who has his own rep to earn as a new entry into the Big Twelfinity.

Arizona murdered ASU in the paint last time. Now-Literate Love doesn’t need to put up the 30 he will for the Cats to win hard.

Hiroshima was up and running within three months of Little Boy, and was a tourist attraction a mere two years later.

But Hiroshima was a single 10 kiloton gizmo. The Trident C-4 rockets on my boat each carried eight 100 kiloton devices, but they would be aimed at different targets, not the same one. What I’m saying is always look on the bright side. Invest in iodine and bandages now and you’ll do well. Dig a bomb shelter while you’re at it.

I’m of the personal opinion that extensive firebombing is pretty much always a war crime. Dresden was bad enough, but Tokyo at that point was still mostly constructed of wood and paper and they waited for the most damaging wind conditions. +1 on the bomb shelter, they pretty much didn’t have those in Tokyo. Thought they might be ‘demoralizing’. I’m betting anyone who came back as a zombie to find 90% of their body burned away was pretty demoralized

In the great documentary series The World at War, General Curtis LeMay (who ordered the low-altitude night incendiary raids after high-altitude daylight precision bombing raids on Japan proved ineffective) said outright on camera that if the U.S had lost the war they would have been tried as war criminals for the fire bombings.
