Notes and Comments
We now have a rematch of the Qualifying Final as Geelong will take on the Brisbane Lions at the MCG next North American Friday Night. Luckily, the game will be early enough that it can be seen live here on the Best Coast without staying up too late.
Both teams ended up winning by roughly 30 points as they withstood early challenges but ended up pulling away. Geelong, in particular, faced a difficult challenge when star defender Tom Stewart was driven into the ground and was taken out of the game with a concussion. Due to the AFL’s mandatory 12 day concussion evaluation period, he is definitely ruled out of the Grand Final.
The Brisbane Lions are now just one win away from winning back to back Premierships! That’s a rare achievement in not just AFL, but all sports.
Geelong are looking to win another Premiership to add to their total of 10. Their last Premiership was in 2022 and, if they win their eleventh, it will be their fifth this century. Interestingly, if Brisbane win, they will also win their fifth this century, which would be the most among all teams!
The Tipping Pool has been won by Sharky as he got the Geelong pick correct! A Gently-Used Fleshlight is on its way!
If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
See you next week!

It’s only going to be 88° today and I have a mild hangover, so what better day to take on SON OF BAMBOO?
Think I’ll give the Grand Final a watch live on Friday.
Can’t say how coherent I’ll be but I’ll give it a try.
It’s definitely an interesting quirk of the AFL playoff setup that you can have a rematch of a first round playoff game as the final.
Woohoo!
Congrats, the runner=up prize is much much worse than a gently-used Fleshlight.
