In Praise of Fredbird (Obvi) Saturday Open Thread

Yes, Most GlorioUs el Beisbol Cardinals will suck in 2026.  But we’ll finally be sucking teh RITE way, so Hippo and his fellow #BFIB supporters are in good spirits and much more content/dogged in following the Chaim Bloom-led youth movement.  Space lasers optional.

Don’t let it trigger all that jelly too much…but our team leader amd easily most populat player is SS Masyn Winn.  He is as elite as one can get in terms of SS defensing, and the bat very much could break out.  If so, we might have the next 5+ WAR, homegrown player on our hands.  That’s fun.  As is West By God Virginia alumnus JJ Wetherholt, who will likely break camp as the starting 2B and ROY contender.

Still need….you know…everything else.  But gotta start somewhere, as we all point and laugh at the aging-and-accomplished-nothing Bastard Man Small Bears core.

There is also World Baseball Classic.  I am not boycotting that, just don’t give a single, solitary fuck.  I certainly won’t judge you (WASPily or otherwise) if you enjoy it.  (I will judge indulgence in the Hitler Olympics sequel this summer, but within the bounds of reason.  MAYBE.)

You may also note the Disneyfied Wrexham FA Cup loss to Chelski today.  Mickey Mouse Cup, innit.

Really, this weekend (with no Prem action) is for thumb twiddling while we await Alex’s Part 2 of his excellent Search FOAR Man Meat….er….NFL Combine coverage.
