NHL Eastern Conference Preview:
You’ve got one team Gary Bettman desperately wanted to have in this round, and the Ottawa Senators.
Both teams have made it this far on the moxie of their goaltending. Craig Anderson played out of his mind in the series against the Rangers, stopping upwards of 50 shots in games that went to OT, and 30-40 shots in games the Rangers won in NY. In doing so, he defated the Smoothie King and got his team through to the next round.

For a guy who wasn’t even scheduled to leave the bench during these playoffs, Marc-Andre Fleury has so far failed to show the case of the yips that has traditionally plagued him. He looked a tad shaky in Game-6 versus Washington, but none of the Pens looked good that night. He managed to hold it together and win his team Game-7 at Washington and move his team forward.

This series will come down to which Penguins team shows up. The team that tries to win a 2-1 game may not be able to hang with a Senators team that has shown a remarkable ability to find an equalizer and get games into overtime, where they have become kings of the commercial-free periods. Ottawa doesn’t have the firepower to match the Pens output, so they will have to fight to keep things close, and hope to squeeze out a win or two in Pittsburgh. All of Canada is pulling for Ottawa, but the exchange rate doesn’t seem to be in their favour.
Prediction: Penguins in 6.
