Good morning! If you woke up early today to catch the women’s final at Wimbledon I hope you didn’t spend too much time blinking your sleepy eyes, cause you’d have missed it. Garbine “A Straight G” Muruguza rolled over Venus “She’s Got It” Williams in just one hour and fourteen minutes. A competitive first set (where Muruguza fought off two set points) was followed by a laugher of a second, with a 7-5, 6-0 final result.
My plans for today include mowing the lawn and unpacking an Instapot, which is a pressure cooker that Dr. Mrs. Deadly, Esquire bought that can apparently do many things. I’m not sure what’s going in it first – probably some variation on pork loin. Which will be a vast improvement of the slab of salt (flavored with a sprinkle of pork loin) I had last night at Alimento. It’s a restaurant here in LA that we’ve enjoyed quite a bit in the past, so I’ll be giving it a second chance, but it was pretty disappointing. We were seated next to Michaela Conlin, who plays Angela Montenegro on TV’s “Bones”, which we used to watch until around 2010, when they added a baby to the cast, and…

Just heard on the radio that Stallone said Creed 2 will likely be about Creed fighting Drago for revenge . So, my question is, who’s supposed to be the protagonist in that film? Surely not the late 20s boxer who went toe-to-toe with one of the best boxers in the world, who wants to fight a guy in his 60s.
The original script had Creed’s kid just tracking Drago down in a nursing home and whaling on him for ninety minutes, but the studio didn’t want to offend conservatives by showing a Russian getting beat up.

I love Dr. Pepper and Guinness. They are both owned by huge corporations. Does that make them taste worse? No. Who gives a shit who owns the breweries if the quality is good?
I can’t say I’ve ever mixed Guinness with Dr. Pepper. Maybe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream?
A place I went sells Guinness floats, after trying it my suspicions were confirmed; keep the beer and dessert separate, IMO.
Nothing inherently wrong with it; for me usually I prefer to try something different, a different take. I also like to give my money to locally owned businesses. The larger companies will tend to suppress innovation and experimentation in preference to uniformity and the biggest selling styles. They will layoff or fires redundant tasks people like accounting and marketing people. So I do give a shit. It makes them taste worse if they have their people come in and cheapen processes and ingredients to fit there own buying and distribution efficiencies.

Still there are so many smaller, local breweries and the whole industry was partly due to a backlash of mediocre uniformity, so when one gets sold out there are others. Several claim the bought out brewery will be run the same; we’ll see how long that lasts.

I was in Indonesia last December, although predominately Muslim they do cater to Westerners with a national beer. It’s called Bintang and I thought it wasn’t bad, then I found out it too was made by Heineken. I drank it anyway considering the logistics, any breath of air feels good to a drowning man (I wrote that, feel free to use as needed).
