I’ve had a fairly crappy week this week. But don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you about it.

But trust me, things here at home sucked this week. So what’s my solution?
I’M GETTING THE HELL OUTTA HERE!!!!

Yes, as soon as I’m done writing this post I’ll be heading to the airport.
By the time you read this post, I’ll either still be parked at the airport bar running up far too large of a tab; or I’ll be on a plane. Hopefully drunk as hell.

Now in truth, this trip was planned long before this past crappy week happened. But I’m quite pleased by the serendipitous timing of it. And I can’t wait to leave this all behind, even if only temporarily for now.
For the next week and a half I’ll have no responsibilities, California beaches, legal weed, and an attractive young lady by my side who has amazingly not yet figured out what an asshole I am.
For these things I am thankful.

Unrelated: Does anyone know of a SoCal weed store which stays open like really, really late? Asking foar a friend.

DFO This Week
It was an interesting week around here this past week. With BeerBongBobby off galavanting, this week’s open threads got covered by committee. Senor Weaselo kicked off the week by covering the MLB Home Run Derby on Monday, then followed it up on Tuesday by covering the All-Star Game itself. Which also kinda turned out to be a home run derby, I suppose. Yeah Right covered things on Wednesday, which as he so aptly pointed out was probably the most difficult night of the year for sports fans. Then last night, Low Commander of the Super Soldiers gave us some much needed encouragement. Sort of.

BallsofSteelandFury kept everyone updated on footy down under, of course. Wakezilla and company (Translation: All those soccer nerds) had one last World Cup Circle Jerk. Rikki-Tikki-Deadly gave us his usual weekly double dose of musical stylings. And The Maestro kept on rolling with his CFL Beat.
In addition to his work on the early week open threads, Senor Weaselo got back in on the act later in the week by keeping the Battlebots going. And frankly, on any other week he’d be Employee of the Week. We’ll definitely give him honorable mention. In fact, I offer him this as his consolation prize…
But this week, the EOW award can go to none other than Blaxabbath . Not only did he make a human being (did any of the rest of you do THAT this week? Huh, huh?), but early reports are that he hasn’t even done or said anything yet to cause his lovely Missus to punch him in the face since the glorious day (but give it time). And in addition to all of that, he still found time to give us this little gem.
NOW THAT’S GOOD HUSTLE!!!!!

And with any luck, Blax, you’ll keep an eye on the kid and this won’t become your theme song.
(yes, I thought that was funny)
