Let’s get right at it… TO THE GAMES!
Pats/Fins:
Guh. Nice start. The spread in this game is 19, which is about 19 more points than my level of interest. Btw, Brady’s record in Miami is 7-10.
Cards/Ravens:
What’s better than young love? Only a battle between young, dynamic qb’s, that’s what. That reckless hypothesis will be tested today.
Niners/Bengals:
Kittle owners had to be pissed that 2 TD’s were called back on penalty-but fear not, he was targeted more than twice as often as the next wideout. Jimmy G had a trash day a week ago but every opponent should be loving Cincy’s secondary. It’s almost as bad as the Giants.
Bears/Lions:
T.J. Hockenson had the very best day that any rook te ever had in his splashy debut. I’ll bet that the Bears lay some pads on him, unlike the Cards.
Vikes/Pack:
Cousins threw a mere 10 times last week. You knew that they were committed to the run but that’s crazy. Thing is, they got up by 14 very early and could do whatever they liked and what they liked was running down the clock starting in the second quarter. Don’t worry, wr’s Theilen and Diggs are still there and will be used.
Jags/Texans:
The Constant Gardner Minshew gets his very first starty-start quite a bit earlier than even his mom expected. And she expects a lot! You would think that de Watt will spoil his milk but he had exactly one pressure last week and nary a a sackeroo.
Bills/Giants:
What can you say about this game that hasn’t already been said by the spittle running down the chin of a homeless heroin addict? Yeah, I’m gonna watch.
Seahawks/Steelers:
Speaking of talent-less secondaries (see, Giants above) Seattle’s has a distinctive lack of BOOM these days-expect the Steelers passing game and their talented wr’s to have a pleasant bounce back.
Colts/Titans:
With Devin Funchess gone, (he’s always been a ‘meh’ guy to me) Deon Cain looks to step in and make a difference. What happened to Parris Campbell?
Cowboys/Potato Skins:
Dallas backers are all agog regarding Dak’s newfound passing prowess but those TD’s last week were the result of missed tackles and assignments. (Antonio Hamilton is a bum) Dak only threw into the endzone once all game. Maybe OC Kellen Moore is onto something but in my books the ‘Boys qb is a glorified game manager.
Well, there you have it-everything you could possibly need to watch the early afternoon slate aside from pills, booze, dope and munchies. Have at it!
Is waiting for a Lyft similar to waiting for your heroin dealer? Don’t really care gonna hum Velvet Underground anyway
I’m waiting FOAR the man…
Fuck! That’s what I get for looking for the vid.
It warms the cockles of my heart to know that some of you youngsters know about the classics. Maybe there’s hope for this planet after all.
*Looks at Washington DC news feed*
Nah, we’re still fucked.
Say what you will, but Case Keenum throws the best murder ball in the League
Giants gonna giant
I was so wrongo on Antonio Brown.
I fucking hate the fact that CBS is using Weird Science by one of my favorite bands of all time as background music for an ad for one of their stupid fucking TV shows.
I benched Dak for Brady, figuring on the Miami factor.
I am bad at fantasy football.
How well this Rambo movie does financially is going to say quite a lot about you, America.
This Bengals D couldn’t stop a leaf from falling onto the ground.
The Ben has elbow owie
Oh, Lions
Ok, I’m out, tt y’all in a bit when I get to the Coliseum
Take your good knife.
Keep your mace/pepper spray in a convenient easy-to-reach location.
I air pop my popcorn. I add a few drops of Tabasco to the melted butter. I highly recommend it.
It seems that Raiders fans experience something similar to Redacteds fans, where they get to watch ex-their team people go on to success with really obnoxious other teams
Last week the Foreskins were good for the first half. Looks like they were only able to be good for first quarter this week.
COOP TD. Too Easy
Nice to see the Bills avenging AFC East SB losses to the NY Giants. Wide Right! Helmet Catch!
Did Detroit miss an extra point? Or did they score 3 safetys?
I’m sure the winners of Survivor and Big Brother get to pitch a show for CBS’ fall line up.
Only if over 60
Well, this coming season of Survivor is already Survivor: The Boston Rob Show
I knew this would happen. Being so scared of the MeToo Movement, the Bengals are asking the 49ers ballcarriers permission before touching them.
It just occurred to me that last night, while I was at a local bar, there was a college FB game being shown that had Ryan Leaf in the booth calling the game. Was I having an out of body experience, or did this actually happen? Acid flashback?
Nope, he now has a job as a color commentator, he did a U of Tenn game a week or so ago.
Well, I guess I wish him success, since he fucked up so masterfully earlier in his life. America is to a certain degree about redemption, after all. What’s Todd Marinovich up to these days, I wonder.
They’ve gotten really creative with work-release programs
Just saw for the first time the Free Phone Football ad that John Teti wrote about on Friday over on AV Club, and yeah that is some stupid shit.
Oh Lolphins
LaFleur is already like family to A.A. Ron
How many yards is the restraining order?
I know I’ve already seen somewhere, maybe on this site, the JVille backup QB referred to as “Gashew,” right? Or am I going nuts?
You are going nuts. It’s “Cashew”.
WTF? His first name starts with a G, not a fucking C.
Sorry, what you were reading was “Ginsu”.
/gaslighting is tons of fun
oooh, you bastahd!
You mean it’s not “Mildew”?
-Tampa front office
Does Kirk know how tall his receivers are?
Notice I called out Parris Campbell and he scored a TD?

Oh Eli.
oh hamburgers! – Eli after that INT
“I’ll trade you a completed pass today for a Sno Cone tomorrow.”

I don’t think ANYONE would disagree that Witten is a much better player than announcer.
That’ll still be true on his 60th birthday.
Yeah, it’s like a “Trump was a much better businessman than president” kinda thing.
The bar is somewhat low there, in fairness
Nice of Washington to let Witten jog in for that TD.
Pre-columbian tribes were known for their reverence for the elders in society.
Holy snacks! Bills have gone 34 games without a qb throwing for 300. Next closest is 11 games.
Old Man TD!
The Redacteds are just sooooooo shit
That’s a very charitable way to put it
As a lifelong Cowboys-hater, this is one of those twice-yearly “is there some way they could both lose?” games for me.
My Cowboys hate has outlived my Redacteds fandom. I’m thinking of becoming a Bills fan, they look like a fun crowd
I wonder how Witten the Announcer would have called Witten the Tight End getting shut down behind the line of scrimmage on that one.
Think I’m gonna grab a Lyft at the half, then BART back. I’ll be drunk enough I won’t mind the 45+ minute walk back from the BART station
Dolphins tanking so hard they would put Rommel as head coach if available
“I read your book, you magnificent bastard!'”
—George S Belichick
Heinz Guderian would like a word about the job opening.
My sonny boy is having a Borderlands 3 weekend.
The Smiths rocking out in GB
No idea they got back together!
Wow, three whole people bought those La-Z-Boy seats in the end zone in Miami. That was a brilliant business decision someone’s part.
that pleater must fry skin.
Well, I hope that they at least have the Magic Fingers feature thrown in as a bonus.
If it’s like wine at Olive Garden, the margin on those is enough that selling 3 is fine
Killer zone read for DAK
Cappppppptain Dingleberry! AHOY!!!
Go home, Kirk
Stats-wise, LAMAR! is looking very dynamic.
I know I just woke up, but Bears-Lions? What happened?
I do like the fake swimming TD celebration. Too bad it got pulled back
Ferrari vs Ford looks pretty damn good.
I just finished reading David Halberstam’s history of 1950s-70s Ford Motor Company, led by Henry Ford II (Hank the Deuce), Robert McNamara and Lee Iacocca, contrasted with the rise of Nissan. Ford has always been a family controlled company and it’s often bizarre and sometimes dysfunctional; Nissan and the Japanese automakers are even weirder.
Not gonna see it until I hear from at least 3 people that it’s better than the Grand Tour ep on the same subject. Probably not gonna see it then either as it’s been at least 5 years since I saw a movie in theaters
I love Halberstam, just finished The Powers That Be, plus I’m a car guy. What is this book called and why have I not heard of or read it?
The Reckoning
Shoot, as a Prime member it’s FREE on Kindle. Downloaded already. Thanks!
We get hammered with the lean stuff at work, pushed by corporate HQ, and it’s very cultlike. Thankfully we’re small enough to be able to be cynical about it without getting binned for being a heretic.
Lean and 5S is horseshit in the US. Companies want so bad to build in foreign efficiency strategies while offering none of the benefits the people who developed them offered as incentive for employees to buy in to the bullshit.
There’s a very interesting documentary on Netflix called American Factory, which among other things shows the differences in incentive and motivation levels between Chinese and American workers – the Chinese consider themselves lucky to even have a job, and work at an outrageous pace and for ridiculous hours lest they be considered a slacker and fired. Anyone who got a workplace injury that meant they couldn’t work any more was given a weeks wages and turfed out. They had a little bit of lean, but no mention of 6 sigma or 5S in the factory – just supervisors telling people to work faster!
Well, yeah. China’s whole business model in production is slave driving. For all our griping about America’s twisted profit obsession and things like the morality of forced prison labor, you’d have to be pretty deluded to think China isn’t 10x worse. Chinese manufacturers are so brutal that we’ve gone as far as offering them massive tax incentives and free resources to build factories that offer 1/100 of the benefits originally promised. Truly, the American dream.
They sure do break a union like an American company though!
“The Reckoning” description of the Japanese unions is absolutely crazy, and Nissan rose by co-opting them with corporate leadership. The UAW post-Reuther is just incompetent, although the young auto workers of the 70s don’t give a shit, are using drugs on the job, and have no appreciation for the struggles that gave them their wage levels and benefits, and therefore they don’t fight for them and don’t care.
I’ll give it a read. I wonder if anyone has ever done a 6 sigma project on letting workers use drugs on the job…..
Big Ben has .6 fantasy points. Is this finally the year we get to cast him off?
hey, ahead of JuJu Bee
Fence too short for lambeau leap
Buffalo with the easy-peasy 98 yd. TD drive. Buffalo.
well, look who they’s playing…SORRY 🙁
I really wish I was at Delilah’s, the Bills bar/punk rock whiskey bar in Chicago right now
Did Phillip Rivers die in Detroit? I haven’t seen anything about this game.
