NFL Nuggets:

• The League has issued guidelines for how players may return to team facilities.
  • The guidelines, all nine pages in pdf form here for your edification, breaks down the different components of players & teams and how they have to monitor:
    • access, physical distancing, facility and equipment cleaning and disinfectant, food service, personal protective equipment and hygiene, compliance with protocols and education on the spread and prevention of infection.
  • One thing that all teams will have to do is provide a list of all employees who might have access to the facility, and what their level of contact between each other might be.
    • Tier 1: Essential & on-field personnel
    • Tier 2: Non-playing personnel who are required to be in close contact with Tier 1 individuals
    • Tier 3: Non-playing personnel who provide essential facility or team services but do not require contact with Tier 1 individuals
• The NFLPA, however, has issued a statement informing players that these guidelines were established & distributed without the union’s approval or consent.
  • In their view, the only players who should be attending team facilities at present are those already attending for rehab purposes.

• One player not planning to report – Dalvin Cook.
  • He wants an extension on par with what Zeke, Todd Gurley & David Johnson got.
    • As he calls it, a “reasonable” deal.
    • Zeke held out last year & was rewarded with a six-year, $90 million extension.
  • But they have other financial problems to deal with as well.

The #Vikings have until 7/15 to extend franchise-tagged Anthony Harris, who will likely need top safety money ($15M). Dalvin Cook’s contract may be addressed after this hurdle is cleared.

FWIW: Per the new CBA, it’s also VERY unlikely Cook holds out into the season.

• Oh goody – just in time for the league to reopen, the President has started in again on Roger Goodell.
  • It seems Donald J. has issue with Roger’s mea culpa on the league’s institutional racism from the weekend.
    • “We are listening. I am listening,” has been MAGA’d into Goodell “intimating that it would now be O.K. for the players to KNEEL, or not to stand, for the National Anthem, thereby disrespecting our Country & our Flag?”

Could it be even remotely possible that in Roger Goodell’s rather interesting statement of peace and reconciliation, he was intimating that it would now be O.K. for the players to KNEEL, or not to stand, for the National Anthem, thereby disrespecting our Country & our Flag?

Well, at least the NFL is lurching forward towards a season. MLB is slowly working its way towards cancellation due to their inability to figure out how to divide billions into millions.
