The Fatherless & Sterile Sunday Evening Post

Hello all,

Because today is the day international corporations have set aside for the worship of the father,

and I don’t have one any more, I have chosen instead to take a lovely trip up BC’s Sunshine Coast with WineWife to go beer & cider tasting.

For those of you who haven’t been to this little slice of paradise, the region is most famous for being home to the long-running Canadian TV show, “The Beachcombers”.

It’s close enough to the Lower Mainland that it’s easily accessible, but the ferries restrict the number of tourists that can come over, so it feels just distant enough. It’s the kind of place where an hour feels like it takes two to pass – in a good way. I find going up there quite relaxing, even if it’s just for the day. In my younger days, I used to ride to the ferry terminal & take my bike over. As we all know, time & the pandemic have put paid to that.

If all goes according to plan, there are four breweries, two cideries, and one distillery available for sampling. All of the places are dog-friendly, so you know the whole team is going.

I’m a dogfather of two!
