This has concluded my Week 1 thoughts. But did I or did I not mention the Tom Tupa reference pregame? I messaged my friend who is a Bills fan, shocked that the Jets won this game, because you’d expect the score to have been roughly the same as the Giants game. But let’s be real, there were no winners.
Except the new betting favorite to win the AFC East, the Miami Dolphins.
With that, to the news:
-In the wake of things, the NFLPA’s director Lloyd Howell called for all stadiums to change to grass. Not only that, but MetLife Stadium is planning already to make the change… for the 2026 World Cup.
Injury updates:
Panthers CB Jaycee Horn (hamstring) multiple weeks
Also “a few weeks” for Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (hamstring)
Seahawks sign OT Jason Peters due to their injuries. At the tender age of 41, Peters gets to join the 20-Season Club! (I have no idea if it’s a thing, but I made it up just now.)
-Not football related, but ESPN has an entire thing on the Biogenesis scandal, if you’re into that. Never forget that Ryan Braun got an arbitrator fired for his lies.
-Lastly, former WR Mike Williams has indeed succumbed to his injuries from a construction accident and passed away Tuesday. He was 36.
What’s on tonight?
Everyone’s nth-favorite EFL team
Welcome Back to Wrexham (7:00, ESPN)
A tale of two matchups:
Wild Card scrum: Tejas vs. Toronto (7:07, MLBN)
Battle for not-last: Yankees vs. Red Sox (7:10, MLBN)
WNBA playoffs?
Minnesota vs. Connecticut (First Round, Game 1) (8:00, ESPN2)
Chi**** vs. Las Vegas (Game 1) (10:00, ESPN)
Yeah, it’s slimmer pickins before the Prime slog tomorrow. Not that Vikings-Eagles is necessarily a bad matchup, but it’ll find a way.
