Notes and Comments
Fremantle could have gotten in. Carlton had already lost. However, they could not beat Port Adelaide at home. Not that it was an easy task, but if you’re going to do anything in finals, you should win that game. Alas, they stay home.
The Qualifying Finals are Sydney hosting GWS while Port Adelaide host Geelong. All of these teams have the Second Chance as the losers play again in Week 2 against the winners of the Elimination Finals while the winners get a bye all the way to the Preliminary Finals.
The Elimination Finals are Brisbane hosting Carlton and Western hosting Hawthorn. That last one is going to be a doozy. Those are probably the two hottest teams in the competition.
The winners stay alive while the losers call it a season. As is tradition, St. Kilda finishes somewhere between 10 and 12th.
I had quite the week tipping but so did Spam, so I wasn’t able to make up ground on him. I did, however, take over second place overall. Remember we still continue tipping through the Grand Final!
If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website.
Don’t forget to put the Footy Tips in! See you next week!
That playoff bracket needs to be explained to me with charts, crayons and words with 2 or less syllables
1/4 and 2/3 play, winners get a bye to Round 3, losers play in Round 2.
5/8 and 6/7 play standard playoff games, winner goes on, loser goes home. The winners play the losers of the 1/4 and 2/3 matchups
No idea if they reseed for round 2 or 3.
They do not reseed. Follow the arrows and that’s who you play next.
