So the Cardinals are in first in the NFC West. For only that reason, we’re gonna do this straight.
Cards were on bye last weekend (is that when I was supposed to write this? Schedule says, yes.) and maintained their lead in the NFC West. With Buddah Baker leading the defense, head coach Jonathan Gannon keeping everyone all dialed in, and potential Comeback Player of the Year Candidate, Kyler Murrary, generally looking to have finally turned the corner, there is real talk about NFC West Division championship for the redbirds.
Here’s how it has played out so far.
Look, you can’t hold a team’s schedule against them but watch me. The Cardinals met RAMMIT (everyone dead), SF (many dead), and Miami (Tua return game) at good times. I don’t really get what the win over CHI means. You’ll note their two games against the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Was-Savages were heavy losses. I think I alluded to this in my season preview.
But this team is tough. And if there ever was a season for this franchise to re-realize its late-season overperforming Buzzsaw moniker, this year is the perfect opportunity.
The Cards are where they like to exist — hope. They’ve got a Year 2 HC bump plus Murray seemingly in a good mood these days. There’s no expectation that this team will be dangerous in the playoffs or make a Super Bowl run this year. And that’s with respect for the defense that Gannon puts on the field. They can play slow games (as shown with LAC) and James Connor has been a workhorse. My neighbor has season tickets and he has some renewed hope that I am excited to see fall apart at any moment.
2024 Prediction: Pretty good out of division schedule to close out. Plus both SEA games and rematches against [potentially] healthy LAR and SF to finish the year. Bottom-line, the division records are going to look pretty dismal in the NFC West and, if you like Control-Your-Own-Destiny Football, that’s the 2024 Cardinals. Gannon did not make the post-season last year. The 2024 Arizona Cardinals seem like a good pick for “Division Champion That Loses At Home to Hot WC Team” in the playoffs.
And does this bring pleasure to birthright owner, Michael Bidwill?
Regardless, the Cardinals aren’t going to win a championship (just like every single other year) and should move to Utah.
Something good-ish?

Oh, Danny Dimes…you didn’t need to renegotiate your contract! You had the capacity to play badly all along!
Yeah, mission accomplished.
That last image link does an excellent job of describing the experience of being a Cardinals fan.
I look forward to watching the Cards get their behinds kicked in the wild card round, potentially by Washington!
Sensational hustle on those cheerleaders pics Buddy. Well done Sir.
Do I get up at 6am on Sunday to catch the train to Seattle (and start drinking beer!) so I can BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the Buzzsaw?
Well, duh!
That’s gonna be a long long long day

pft, stupid webp link
It will be a fun day tho!
Doooooo it!
Do it!
I’m surprised that the NFC West is not stronger this season. I guess each division has it’s time, with this season looking like it’s the NFC North that might put 3 teams in the playoffs. I’d be happy with Arizona being there this year.
I have a financial interest in SF winning the division. I wouldnt mind Arizona making the wildcard though
I don’t think anyone expected the Niners to have such a fart of a season or the Rams to have an outbreak of receiver plague
Arizona gradually losing its pro sprots franchises to Mormanland would be a nice development.
Nice work, blax. Arizona being cromulent is like finding $20 in your wallet. It doesn’t really change anything, but it’s a nice surprise!
A good chunk of northern Arizona is already South Utah.
Ooooh, you almost made it keeping it straight. Which made this sweeter: “My neighbor has season tickets and he has some renewed hope that I am excited to see fall apart at any moment.” 🤣😂😅
PS- I have it on good authority that ARI has a top OL (source: envy)

Didn’t he resign as well?
Current Congress, yes. Next Congress, uncertain.
His call about the 119th, but then ethics investigation comes back into play, Unless they have him dead to rights, he’ll return but his influence will be far weaker. He’s damaged goods.
Colonel Korn remains undefeated:
“You know, that might be the answer – to act boastfully about something we ought to be ashamed of. That’s a trick that never seems to fail.”
Oh, good. Trump is starting to choose candidates with better character than those he’s already nominated.
“Playing it straight,” Mike Bidwell’s sexuality aside…
🤣🤣🤣
Funny. He seemed like a typical frat boy when I met him.
Wait …
More importantly, how does this affect the hereditary dynasty of The Oldest NFL Franchise?

Utah FC (not to be confused with Real Salt Lake).
I thought they contrived to get some kind of endorsement from the Spanish king, which would have been funny given their stated desire to contrive a relationship with the Real Madrid but also because the MLS team is in the heart of a theocracy that does not share the values of the Spanish king’s official religion.
