Why yes, I’ve just begun 1975’s Images In a Convent! I’m beginning my (director) Joe D’Amato phase, as one does when going down these sploitation holes. It would appear that the genre consists of either a high falutin’ society lass forced to enter a convent and she eventually learns of the depraved goings-on there and (of course) partakes. The other angle is that of a prostitute sentenced to the same place and coaxing all those hidden desires to the surface. This genre took off in Italy in the 70’s and is sorta interesting to see how filmmakers dealt with religious/sexual themes that were always tugging at one another in that country. Some titles you may want to check out include The Lady of Monza, Roman Scandals ’73, The Nun and the Devil, Beautiful Antonia-First a Nun Then a Demon and Flavia the Heretic. I have to admit, these titles drag me in.
NFL News:
Money Continues to Talk: Oh look over here-The Carlyle Group-one of the private equity companies that the NFL has deigned to allow to bid for ownership stakes in NFL teams-has been employing NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell Jr as a consultant! Yes, Carlyle’s aerospace and defense investment division needed his expertise. That’s the same Howell that agreed with the owners to keep the info about the collusion case secret regarding no one after Deshaun Watson getting a fully-guaranteed contract. Talk about your captured union.
Crime Notes: Vikes lb Dallas Turner was scammed out of 240k when a scammer called him and told him that someone was using his identity to scam his money so to prevent that scam he was to send 120k to two separate scam accounts. All of $2,500 has been recovered so far, which was probably left behind as a thank you gesture.
The Good Stuff: Rookies start first but the actual good stuff regarding training camp starts in a mere 10 days. That’ll fly by.
Tonight’s Action: Because there’s so little going on we can pretend that this is Cooper Flagg’s pro debut.
I think I’m going to try making Cowboy Caviar this weekend. T’was just not a thing growing up in my neck of the woods. Have you made it? If you share the recipe, know that I’ll be cutting back on the cilantro portion of the recipe 110%.
Primus is so fucking great in person.

It’s not the best Italian orb you’ve ever posted, but it’s nice.
Just heard an interesting stat while watching the Angels game.
Mike Trout has hit 197 homers at Angel Stadium, and 197 on the road.
Oh, the Angels are losing 9-3 thanks for asking
That’s a Tungsten Arm O’Doyle ass stat if I’ve ever seen one.
It’s Faustian. “You’re gonna be one of the greatest players ever, but you’re gonna get hurt kind of a lot and never play a meaningful game past August.”
I admire that he stays in a relative backwater invisible market when he could make double or treble the money in endorsements and salary playing in New York or Los Angeles.
Granted, he gets good weather and many millions of dollars without the hassle so it’s actually quite reasonable.
I also like that he hasn’t sent his employee to prison to cover up his rampant gambling addiction. But fuck Pete Rose, he wasn’t bringing in new market money.
Robot umps
Pitch clock
Fuck the Yankees and the Red Sox.
Relative backwater?
He basically plays in LA for a team owned by a Mexican telecommunications billionaire. Let’s not pretend Trout’s toiling away in Kansas City or Pittsburgh here.

Me, a dumb grad student: bureaucracies often compete for increased funding and influence.
Rubio, the adult in the room: lmfao I’m gutting everything I’m in charge of
Lmao
That’s just domestic employees. They haven’t even started on the ones in the field.
My cousin worked for USAID and he’s been done for a while, as far as I know.
The Trump administration plan to make everyone hate us and not want our money seems to be moving along swimmingly.
Can’t top this though… Merica!
Have you seen this one? I swear they show it on this one local channel over here just about monthly.
I’ve not seen it but will take a look.
A few farmers markets near me sell Texas Caviar, I would reckon it’s the same thing.
The best include raw corn. You could use EVOO but it would solidify if you refrigerate it.
No hitter through 7. Up 5-0. And a loss. And a sweep.
Go Mariners.
Could be worse, you could have Verlander in your rotation.
But that would mean Kate Upton might show up to a home game.
She ain’t coming if he is 0-7
Call me Mr. 0-7.
Cal Raleigh seems Rockinggggg!!!
The Big Dumper is indeed rocking. What a season he’s having.
/Felix Hernandez has entered the chat
deep sigh
On the other hand, I was there to watch his perfect game.
Was there for Woo’s last game on the 4th, where Cal hit 2 homers.
Oh, did they win?
Wow! Mavs coach Jason Kidd looks like someone that is barely holding it together after getting out of rehab.
/Things…things are going ok. I learned a lot and, and I’m incorporating that into my life

Gin Blossoms is an auto +1 every time
I always forget about just how brilliant Django Reinhardt was. Here he is in Chicago in 1946 because he had some gambling debts that he needed to pay in Europe. He didn’t bring his own acoustic guitar and was given this electric guitar a few days earlier and was expected by Duke Ellington to “figure it out”.

So, how is it that players leave Pittsburgh and immediately do stupid shit?!?
The protective aura summoned by th’ TomlinVoodoo wears off with a quickness.
Ugh. Hope he’s going to be OK. Najee seems like a solid guy.
/& let the JPP jokes commence in 3… 2… 1…
You gotta hand it to Najee. At least he will make the start of the season
Yeah, I don’t see him missing any games.
Nicely done.
I didn’t know he was from the East Bay!
Cloister cleavage is a GREAT tag!
