Wumbo Wednesday With Weaselo: Your 2026 Jets Season Preview!

They’re gonna suck.

This has been your 2026 Jets season preview.

Okay, fine, I have a minimum word count to hit. But I’ll be honest, I don’t really care, it’s like the 15th sequel of a hackneyed film series complete with all the shittiest clichéd tropes.

Look, it’s Geno Smith who became a competent quarterback after he left the Jets, like now-champion Sam Darnold! Except, he’s back with the Jets now.

Garrett Wilson is back with someone to actually throw him the ball, and Breece Hall and Braelon Allen are a solid run game! Except we’ve been trying to replicate the highs of the line since the Nick & Brick days (RIP Nick Mangold).

Look, the Jets special teams were historically good last year! Bye, Nick Folk. (Everyone else is back in that department, including returners Kene Nwangwu and Isaiah Williams, punter Austin McNamara, and long snapper Thomas Hennessy.) David Bailey’s having a really good training camp as an edge rusher, and him with Will McDonald IV is the building blocks of a solid pass rush! This website had as many interceptions as the Jets last year, so the only way to go is up!

Except, it’s the Jets. The Jets are like your modern America, in that there’s always a lower low to hit. Fittingly, the owner of the Jets is a one-time ambassador in this regime. But also, I should not feel so easy in using the word regime.

Best-Case Scenario: The Johnsons go to Iran and their attempts to make peace are foiled by Brick telling the Ayatollah he can’t negotiate with someone who only has a 45 awareness. Nukes fall, everyone dies. (I’d link to TVTropes here but you have to ad-whitelist them now, the bastards.)

Worst-Case Scenario: 5-12, missing out on a top quarterback.

Most-Likely Scenario: 6-11, missing out on a top quarterback and being just competent enough to think they can run it back with some slight tweaks… when the whole thing collapses in ’27 and they still miss out on a top quarterback, but with another year of Garrett Wilson’s and Breece Hall’s careers gone.

Anyway, what’s on tonight?

It truely baffles me why any QB would voluntarily take a contract with the Jets. Even if Geno learned nothing from his first stretch there, it was just last year they demolished Fields. Starting with the Jets is a far inferior option to a cushy backup gig. The way the NFL is today, most backups get play time and aren’t even murderdeathkilled at all!

I am 100% serious. Why be a sidekick when you can take one last roll of the dice at being THE STAR?

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

I am also drunk and getting drunker.

WCS

So was Geno when he signed with the Jets.

Doktor Zymm

Because there is a 0% chance of it working out, and you have a better chance of becoming a starting QB on a decent team by stepping back for a year or two and actually learning something in a less toxic environment, but that’s maybe too analytical for someone who’s taken as many hits to the head as any QB desperate enough to start for the Jest

Senor: do you have any advice for someone starting as a composition major at the New School in a few weeks?

Bogdanski

Thanks, I’ll pass that on!

Sharkbait

I had two games in net tonight! Went 1-1. Of course the win was for the team I subbed for. Oh well. More of a workout means more tasty beverages after the fact.

Sharkbait

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Horatio Cornblower

I mean, it’s not like they finished…

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

I wish Jeanine Pirro had gotten fired today so I could drink this boxed wine in celebration. Ah well. I’ll drink it tonight and when she’s finally cut loose I’ll get a new box.

WCS

Best hurry up. She’s already two-and-half boxes ahead of you this evening.

Horatio Cornblower

I just stopped working, and then only because my cat sat in my office chair and glared at me, so I said “you raise some valid points about work/life balance, Buster” and then I turned everything off and had some chocolate cake.

Doktor Zymm

Good kitty

Found a funny:

I am guessing several injured ICE agents will be injured from forgetting to take their new electro-shock gloves off before jerking off.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

I feel like there will be some absurdly easy counter to those, like “douse yourself with salt water before they touch you and it will shock them too. And if you wear thick rubber-soled shoes it won’t shock you at all.

Brick Meathook

As much as I hate Trump (more than you do, hoss) I have no sympathy for all this whining about reporters and staffers being used as “human shields” on Air Force One while POTUS used another plane. Yeah, you were human shields and you had the privilege of being human shields on Air Force Fucking One and that goes with the turf and if you don’t like it fly commercial with all the other plebes in the press corps and staff. The least you could do is die for your country in opulence.

SonOfSpam

Also, this particular bunch of reporters ain’t exactly covered in glory.

Also, you do not hate Trump more than I do.

Clinton had a similar situation going to Pakistan in 99 and handled it honestly. That, along with the whole “If I go, you go” is what just adds to this guy’s pile of suck.
That said, I’d love to see Rubio and Miller used as human shields

Redshirt

Turns out being used as sacrificial targets while you sneak away is where Karoline Leavitt draws the line.

Huh. She’s smarter than I’ve been giving her credit for.

BrettFavresColonoscopy

It’s not even 9pm and I’m so tempted to just climb into bed

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

There is less than zero chance I will have the energy to exercise tomorrow. So it won’t matter if I’m hungover, right?

ballsofsteelandfury

I will take a bullet and do the Browns preview. Look for that on Saturday!

SonOfSpam

They’re all gonna get deported.

Wait, you talking about the bad football team?
