Monday Morning Mock Draft: Do That Again, But Good This Time

Guten tag, drones.

Writing this on Sunday night after not getting a lot of sleep Saturday night, (never sleep well after getting home at 1:00 am), then going to a fundraiser, (which was definitely against ALS), and eating a bunch of pasta and having 1.5 beers, both of which made me sleepy, but when I laid down to take a nap my dog hunkered up next to me and wagged his tail against my arm while occasionally whining to remind me he hadn’t had his walk yet.

Also it’s hot and humid again, because apparently for the last six weeks the tropics have come to us.  And if that’s the case I need a margarita, but also a shower first, and if that’s the case I need to get this thing to post with a quickness and if all of that is the case then by the transitive property of…something, this things is getting mailed in with a quickness!

A couple of weeks ago we did album covers, but limited to this you found goofy, weird, or, in the case of certain Scorpion album covers, probably criminal.

Oh, I assure you, that’s not the original.  I would link to it, but I did some digging and it turns out that the one that was drafted isn’t the actual original.  The original is even worse, and I am in no way going to link to it.  You go talk to the FBI  The Scorpions should’ve gone to jail in 1974 for that cover and they should still be there, mostly for the album cover, but also because it would’ve prevented a lot of truly terrible music.

You know, there’s a rumor that the Scorpions song “Winds of Change” was part of a CIA effort to undermine the Soviet Bloc countries.  I’ve never believed that, mostly because that song is so fucking bad, even by the standards of the record-setting ass-sucking that Scorpions music generally is, that I can’t imagine anyone listened to it long enough to pick up any kind of message from it, (other than “I should never listen to this band again, and in fact should probably hunt them for sport”), let alone get motivated to take down a communist dictatorship.  Having become aware of this album cover, however, I now think that there may be something to it, in that some dipshit in the CIA made them record it out of some bizarre “Let’s kill Fidel Castro with an exploding ACME cigar” type fantasy or else they’d go to jail for child pornography, and their record company, still pissed 17 years later about having even had to explain to them why putting a naked 12-year-old on an album cover was a really bad idea, also told them they had to do it.

/looks at word count

Well, enough with my (justified) hatred of  The Scorpions.  As you’ve probably guessed by now this week we draft album covers, but good ones.  If you like the artwork, and it’s an album cover, (and it doesn’t feature child pornography, something I now have to say thanks to the fucking Scorpions), it’s eligible!

My top draft pick is above.  London Calling was the album that really got me into punk.  My copy disappeared years ago.  And that cover is simply iconic.  I really need to find another copy; downloading just doesn’t hit the same.  I also need to find another T-shirt for it, having worn out the other one sometime between high school and my children leaving home.

The rest of you are on the clock.

Soul Asylum’s version of a Herb Alpert cover

5. Ween – Chocolate and Cheese. Even the title speaks of wonderful things. If it weren’t for the actual “music” contained within, this would truly be the perfect album.

Jed York’s wife filed for divorce a few months before he solicited prostitution OFFERING UP TO $160.

She looks like the young girl who marries Jed York on his potential, sees it has far maxed out 15 years later, and now you’re a hot thing and, thus, the victim here so you’re getting out of here.

Jed — always the rugged individualist — responds by traveling across the country to inquire about the hookers who ‘….will always call them the Indians…’

He’s decided to challenge Elon for the title of World’s Most Divorced Man. This is a good start, let’s see if he can keep the momentum going!
