We now have the ladies’ competition to watch in addition to the regular one! Honestly, I really like watching their games. It’s the opposite of the old Futurama joke. It’s not so much about fundamentals but rather raw effort, skill, and determination. They tackle as if their lives depend on it. It’s great to watch!

AFL Notes and Comments

Somehow, Carlton pulled off the surprise of the year. They destroyed the back to back champion Brisbane Lions. The Lions had been looking good and were looking as the one team that could challenge Fremantle. After this loss, it’s hard to see them winning another Premiership.

The Cats took care of the Pies this week and now have the easiest schedule remaining. Barring a disaster, a finals berth is all but assured. A Top Four finish is also within reach.

Meanwhile, the Dockers have won the regular season title. There is probably a mathematical chance of Sydney tying them and beating them for the #1 spot on percentage, but a complete breakdown would need to happen. It will NOT happen.

After this week’s win, the Giants, despite everything that has happened this year, are still in contention for a finals spot! On the one hand, it would be a great achievement if they could get in. On the other, the chances of them doing anything in finals are probably pretty slim.

AFLW Notes and Comments

AFLW is starting this weekend!! If you like the sport and you want to see athletic ladies play it at the highest level, you need to check it out! Last weekend, there was a special Australia v Ireland game that was won by Australia. Highlights are above.

North Melbourne are your defending champions slash dynasty. They have won back to back Premierships and have a 27 game winning streak spanning two seasons and counting.

This year, the competition will feature 12 regular season games plus finals. If you want to see beautiful athletic women that hit harder than the Jets, this is your sport! Here is this week’s schedule:

If you are a member of an AFL club or you got a Watch AFL membership, you should be able to watch every AFL and AFLW game, including replays. Game times vary between Australian afternoon and evening, which actually makes it easier for us in North America to watch as the games can be seeing in the evenings on Pacific Time and early mornings on Eastern time.

If you haven’t become a member of a club or signed up for the Watch AFL app, you can still watch the AFL and AFLW games in the USA on either FS1 or FS2 and in Canada on TSN. Showtimes can be found here on the Australian Football Association of North America website. But I do recommend that you join a club. It’s fun and they send you free shit.
