Are you fucking kidding me?! A major part of the premise and success of the cyber-punk source material is the complete and ridiculous over the top violence! Just look at some of this shit (unless you are at work!)

How in the hell are you going to be able to do ANYTHING close to that with this at PG-13?!  Do we have to hope that Hollywood is finally going to adapt something based on a manga/anime or video game and actually give it a good story? Not. Fucking. Likely.

It’s not like this movie wasn’t already devoid of controversy, with the whole Scar-Jo playing the Japanese Major Kusanagi, which bothered me as both a fan and a White American male, but I was willing to look past it due to the aspect of head exploding goodness. Now what? Implied violence and/or mostly mechanical cyborgs getting hacked to bits? You’ll never capture the coveted BOLTMAN demographic with that shit!
