Most under-rated day-drinking day of the season must be today. If you’re not an amateur that’s waking up in a strange place with your ‘good clothes’ still on then this is the day. Did you have a Bloody Caesar/Mary with your bacon and eggs? Did you follow it up (as I did) with an early afternoon martini followed by a sipping beer followed by scotches? If you did any variation of the above you are the champion I always knew you were. Ya dug down deep and found the inner strength to do whatever the hell you felt like. That pain in your chest? That’s just pride in one’s accomplishments manifesting itself after laying dormant for so very long.

Is there more NFL fallout? You bet.

Tom Coughlin waggled his finger at Fournette and Yeldon, called them ‘unproffessional’ and showed them who is boss by relieving rb coach Tyrone Wheatley of his job. That’ll show those whippersnappers!

Espn has a blurb about John Elway evaluating everybody including himself. Will he switch from a Western saddle to an English one? (Ha! Betcha Brandon Perna still sticks with the oats/hay jokes…)

Brian Orakpo, the olb from the Titans has called it a day after ten years and a few seasons of being a top-notch defender. I have no joke for this guy.

SBNation and Bleacher Report both have the Giants grabbing qb Haskins from Ohio State. He’s the one year starter that improved greatly over the last month of the season. I’ll bet his middle name is ‘Akili’. I’m torn-this looks like a disaster to me but I don’t want to go through another year of watching Eli. But I don’t want them to jump the gun on the first pretty lady with ‘legs up to here’ that walks past the construction site either. The Jags are moving on from Bortles for sure-perhaps they give the Giants something to move up one spot and then NY grabs an offensive lineman? Four months of speculation to follow…

Of all the collateral damage sure to result from the explosion of the trump family, certainly the most enjoyable to witness will be the reveal, via Michael Cohen’s testimony, of the nature of the “relationship” between Falwell Jr. and his erstwhile “pool boy” from the Fontainebleau in Miami. If Trump only paid @ $150K to make his sexual peccadilloes go away, imagine what Jerry & Giancarlo got up to to run up a tab of 1.8 million skinoots.

And just finished it, 255 pages and a few hours later. It is a fantastic story.

I kid. Listen, I did this twice, and I’m a moron. The trick is to sleep when they sleep. Afternoon naps are mandatory. I can’t stress that enough. If the Mrs. is breast feeding have her fill up a couple of bottles so she can get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Formula’s easier, but same deal on shifts. When she’s had that, it’s your turn. Learn to love late night/early AM ESPN. With our first I developed a disturbingly in-depth knowledge of World’s Strongest Man.

And remember, this too shall pass, probably within 2-3 months.

Haven’t heard, but the local sports news has been distracted at little bit.

I’d doubt it though. Butch Jones tried that route with Tennessee and we saw how that happened.

Not only has Fickell has been saying the right things, he has built in a recruiting class in the Cincinnati region. He’s on a first name basis with the best HS teams’ coaches and that puts him in the Living Rooms of quality players.

Plus also in the AAC, if his team is clicking, all he has to do is beat UCF and he’s playing in January. If he goes WVa, suddenly he’s in the Big 12 and look up at Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech and TCU.

Butch Jones is another name being kicked around. That said, he was on DickRod’s staff from 2005-07, so, there’s some familiarity. Plus, the idea of getting another shot of coaching a Power Five school would have be a key selling point.

One of the conditions that go with the surgery I had is no alcohol for 6-9 months. Strangely enough, I haven’t missed it at all. I did 7 months in Kuwait without booze about 10 years ago without DTs, so I guess I’ll weather this storm somehow.
