[looks at past work week in rear view mirror] So glad that’s behind me. Friday night feels like all kinds of Bloody Mary, Pinot, Scotch and Mill St. Lager all mixed together in my tum-tum-tummy. Games-wise NHL-wise we’ve got Bos/Pit, TB/Was, SJ/Ott and the Rangers on the ice tonight. Also, somewhere out there Mt. Union is playing St. Thomas (Minn.) for the Division III football championship. In the NBA Tor/Mia and LAC/SA are hot meetings and Chi. and GS are on the court. There’s some college ball as well-St. John’s is playing host to uh, The Incarnate (I have no) Word Cardinals of the Southland Conference. The undefeated Frank Martin’s Elevated Blood Pressure are on the road against Clemson this evening as well. I’ll be watching the Bills 30 For 30 thingy. I wonder which era they’ll focus on?

American Psycho is one of the very few instances where the movie was better than the book. I saw the movie well before I read the book, but, was so very much looking forward the to novel. It was slog just to finish it. Others include Jaws and Fight Club. I pushed through Jaws in a day, and it was fine, but not in the same time zone as the movie. I only finished Fight Club because I felt I needed to. Terribly disappointing. Discuss:
Possibly my favorite Far Side.

Am I watching old Whose Line videos? Yes. Yes I am.
I made a couple of beer reviews on Sexy Friday, if you are interested.

…and now I’ve stumbled into the Vietnam War documentaries on youtube. There goes my happy buzz.
The old man was just young enough (graduated high school in ’72) to miss out. He enlisted anyway, but figuring if Uncle Sam was going to send him to be killed, at least he would have a say how. He was sent to New York, North Dakota, and Alaska. His cousin was a Marine, who survived Khe Sanh. Old man’s cousin died of a heart attack a few years ago. The old man is still happy and healthy. They never got along, but, they both always said how lucky they were. I consider myself lucky to find a $20 bill in my pocket; I lack proper perspective.
Wrapped presents that have arrived to date while watching Hot Fuzz. Such a goddamn classic movie; may be my favorite of the trilogy.
Red Wings — Canucks shootout battle is epic.
Good guys win WOO
If I could have been anything, I would have been a professional hockey player.
Not even the NHL necessarily, just enough to pay the bills and establish a name that could be attached to a restaurant and/or car dealership in some small mid-continental place of snow and rainbows.
The guy in the back seat married Christina Hendricks.

The first ten minutes of this film are the funniest ten minutes ever committed to film.
WordPress to those that think things are great:
6 — 2. Holy mother of fuck.
I just defeated Apple.
I bought a certified reconditioned 2014 128GB iPad Air for $499. It died in a way that shocked even the Apple Geniuses. Just went splat. No fixing it.
So I have a brand new factory original 128GB Air 2 coming: $829 retail.
To turn in final grades, I’m supposed to take a screenshot of the grades submitted to the registrar (which mystifies me: doesn’t the registrar have a record? Is my screenshot supposed to verify that I’ve submitted them, when an easily-generated report could do likewise?), then export my gradebook from Blackboard and make certain modifications to the resultant Excel file. Then I’m supposed to attach these two files along with some other crap, and send them to the department secretary. Who, with dozens of faculty and adjunct instructors and literally hundreds of classes in her purview, is never going to be able to check each file for accuracy or even compatibility–hell, I could send her empty files that would probably pass muster, as long as the file extensions looked right. Nevermind that this secretary spends most of her work time on Facebook.
So am I subverting the process by doing it after drinking a Quadrupel and a couple bourbons?
They’re his daughters and his wife. The one on the right, Natalie Yoshida, is the one that posted this photo and many others.
They’re just funny people.
It’s funny if you trust yourself enough to form an intelligent opinion.
People having fun skewering a sacred cow is always funny.
/usually funny
