Football Continues Apace – Night Thread

Yeah, the quality of play today was…not so great.  But hey, it still passed the time.  I am also reading Anne Applebaum’s “Gulag” history, so you can imagine what a ray of sunshine Hippo (and Other Hippo) is at present.  At least I could keep the windows open today, the delta between winter and “swampass” tends to be fleeting at best.

I did like the Ukrainian flag homage from the Premiership (see banner pic), although I fear society will start losing interest soon.  If it hasn’t already.

We also started a mini-discussion among DFO’s Politburo – is China or Russia the bigger asshole, overall?  I mean, Putin is obviously showing more of his butt cheeks at present.  Feel free to discuss.  Things learned today:

• Beesus is resurrected-ish.
• Relatedly, Norwich is so, so dead.  They can’t even pretend otherwise no MOAR.
• It’s a little jarring to hear Jesse Marsch speak, since he lacks the Brit-speak accent (or other Euro-twang).
• Leeds still looks most likely to go down with Norwich and Watford, though.  Their confidence is shattered, and I’m not sure there’s much quality, either.
• Good God, though.  Team White Lives Matter sure took a ROCKING second-half hiding today, despite Chelski sleepwalking the first 45 minutes.
• The “poison chalice” of Europa play has caught up to Fronk’s Hammers.  It’s a brutal schedule if you lack robust squad depth.
• Please avert your eyes from tonight’s Coach K rimming.  NO, IT’S NOT MARGINALLY BETTER FOR THE HOLES TO WIN.  If “giant meteor” finally comes good, it will be on the news later.
• NC State made history today, losing 20 for the first time EVAR.  Didn’t even need the inevitable “one and done” from the ACC tournament (that nobody but Dook fans will watch).
