The sports just keeps coming and coming. And we’re not even into Bowl games yet. My gambling buddy keeps betting against the Warriors and he’s beginning to become intolerable. Hockey-wise, Bruins/Canadiens is always entertaining. Elsewhere the Penguinos and Rangers look to vanquish their respective foes. NBA-speaking, the Spurs/Raptors looks good and the Bulls/Celts is worthy of a look-see. Collegey-speaking Omaha/Mizzou looks boring as hell but MSU, ARI, Vandy and Providence (#18? what did I miss?) are also pounding the hard court. Kentucky looks to run roughshod over their Eastern cousins and Howard is looking for four or five other guys to fill out the roster so that he can pretend to be competitive against Purdue. OFF WE GO!

One of the kommenters on “the old site” once recommended to me the book “Boys Will Be Boys” by Jeff Pearlman. I wish I could remember who did that but I’m sure that commenter is on this site. Thank you. That was one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. It’s about the Dallas Cowboys when Jerry Jones bought them, fired Tom Landry, hired Jimmy Johnson, fired Jimmy Johnson, hired Barry Switzer, and features Emmitt, Deion, Michael Irvin, and twenty Troy Aikman concussions. The Boys Will Be…” book ,those are really great. Especially, the parts about Irvin and the scissors.
But if you like the El Beisbol, read “And the Bad Guys Won”, about the 86 Mets. I think he was a beat reporter back then, but one of the great teams that was both successful because of their partying and destroyed by it. The story about the trip from Houston after winning the NLCS is worth the price of admission.especially considering they had a few players arrested ata Houston strip club earlier in the season. That incident even made it to the official team VHS for the year.
I’m pretty sure that you can find the NLCS story if you can hunt the old Page 2 on the WWLD.

There’s also a glaring contradiction involving the Indian but that might let some spoilers out so I won’t go into detail, but if you watch the first 5 minutes of Episode 9 and remember a few things about the history of the character to that point the contradiction becomes painfully obvious.
I’m getting caught up on Fargo Season 2 finally, and I only have one major complaint:
People get stabbed WAY too easy in that series.
Getting stabbed is like GETTING STABBED.
You don’t just shrug off being stabbed, particularly in the back or chest where it’s almost certain to perforate a lung.
The stabbings could have been portrayed as having more realistic consequences. Jussayin’
I agree. Stabbings in general get treated poorly in most TV shows/movies. But, this season of Fargo has been phenomenal outside of the stabbing issue.

Most of yinz know wifey and I hate a fairly significant scare last week. Your support and genuine concern was truly heartwarming and helpful. I sincerely thank all of you.
This tale has a happy ending, though. Wifey continues to feel “pregnant normal” and all of the tests they ran came positive. She’s due for a just-to-be-uber-sure ultrasound after her shift tonight/tomorrow morning. That said, I am confident everything is good.
Again, I can’t express my appreciation and thanks to yinz guys and gals. We haven’t told our families or friends yet, so this was really the only place I could vent. Thanks for putting up with my trepidations and angst last week. Thank you all so very much, from the bottom of my cold, black heart.
