I wanted to do a quick note about the “creative process.” I thought about doing this on my earlier Coach Zimmer post but that seemed a little selfish and self-serving so I’ll mention it here.

I generally start out with a rough idea, maybe a couple of stupid dick jokes and just let it take a mind of it’s own.

I have been playing acoustic guitar for several years now and I’m OK, far from being “good” but I like it and it feels creative. About 5 years ago I bought some electrics and some amps and cranked up the amp with some wicked crunchy riffs. When you get a good sound and you’re shaking the windows the feeling is, dare I say, “electrifying.” It’s like the feeling you get when you get off of a bad ass roller coaster.

When I do my fan fiction posts it’s the same thing. I’m not talking about my Sunday Gravy posts or even the news or travelogue stuff because that’s just research and it is literally work to put together. Now on the creative posts, where I think I’m doing my own original shit? I have the same feeling of electricity running through my veins during the whole writing process.

While I was writing today’s post – at work mind you – I was fully fucking amped and charged up. I didn’t start with an outline, I didn’t even know how it would finish but while I was thinking, creating, writing, I was fucking charged up with electricity. I still feel a little bit of the rush right now.

I guess what I’m asking is; do any of the rest of you get the same rush when you are doing a creative post?

I do. And as long as that rush lasts I will keep on doing it.

Same concept: it may not be perfect and it probably isn’t John Irving or Daniel Woodrell or Kurt Vonnegut but I am fucking having a blast doing this for you wonderful, crazy bastards and I hope you feel the same.

Now let’s have some gatdamn drinks!
