Any of you tech nerds have any idea why my HBO GO says there’s a problem with the high speed internet not working, so it can’t run, but Netflix (and everything else) is fine?

The only thing I can find referencing this error is that HBO GO gets wonky (tech nerd term) when your dl speed fluctuates wildly because it screws up something in the buffering. I’m gonna go ahead and assume you did all the usual router reset stuff, and not insult you with that. Lemme see what else I can find.

I can’t tell you why, but I can tell you that I’ve had the same problems. HBO GO says fuck off, while Netflix and AmazonPrime work fine and with perfectly fine picture quality (thus I presumed the dload speeds were fine at the times this happened).

I did webcomics for a while back in the early aughts, and knew a bunch of guys who did mostly small-audience stuff. All of my favorites are gone now, so I’m stuck with the ones that have managed to maintain a presence online. I have a deep and seething hatred for PvP, however. I really do not like that comic or its author.

I moved to Portland from Salem, OR after graduating law school, and maybe it’s just because I’m an antisocial dickhead who had no one to chill with and because I got sucked into r/portland, which like all of reddit is filled with hateful, entitled assholes, I’ve found myself resenting the fuck out of living in what is generally an awesome city because I keep making myself miserable. I don’t want to exploit public transportation or walking everywhere because I’m fat and lazy and where the fuck am I going to go anyway, and if I do work here (which was why I moved here), I just know that no matter what happens I am going to find a way to be miserable no matter how cool my surroundings are.
I moved from the Lehigh Valley, PA to San Antonio TX, then the Grand Canyon, AZ. San Antonio is actually an awesome place, but I stuck to old habits and behaviors and generally hated it. When I got to the GC, I realized I knew absolutely no one, and so decided I was just gonna be happy for a while.
It worked out better than I’d hoped. I still have friends from that time, and I can honestly smile about every single day I spent there. So I learned that the majority of what made me miserable was, well, me.
Let go and have fun. No one is watching anyway, and you can ALWAYS have a good time if you’re willing to do so.
I’m just an angry, hateful person. I’m trying to fix it.

There’s a brick-oven place near me that does a four-cheese with proscuitto di Parma and an Italian herb mix of fresh basil, oregano, and arugula, with or without the Florentine egg.
If you get it delivered they put the herbs an a separate box so they don’t wilt.

I’ve actually kinda been laughing at Europe with the refugee thing, which is horrible, but the US has long been the most diverse country in the world, and has dealt with both the advantage and disadvantages of that, and watching them trying to deal with a relatively minor influx of diversity and failing is hilarious. People talk about implementing Scandinavian style socialism here, but that won’t happen. It’s mostly racism, but it’s a lot easier to help people who look like you. We’ve managed to set up a system that while still really racist, is better than the nationalistic movements most of western Europe will be dealing with coming up. The Trump shit, while appealing to a large minority, might happen to Europe in the next 5 years. Buckle up folks.
The rise of xenophobia in Scandinavia and in Central Europe is ominous.
But not unexpected. They’ve always flirted with it, and while it generally hasn’t been the norm, they also haven’t had to deal with more than token immigration. When the only brown person in your neighborhood is the guy you buy kebabs from while drunk, well, yeah, yay foreigners! When it’s most of your neighborhood…well…
Fun fact: when a company was coming in pitching us some analytics software, they showed us an example of the tool being used on some demographic and property value data. Basically, “there goes the neighborhood” happens once minorities exceed 7%.
And the best part is that they’re mocking America due to Trump’s popularity.
This also reminds me of how much I roll my eyes when I see a random Gawker poster lamenting the state of the United States due to racism and the like and how they are seriously considering moving abroad. Putting aside the ability to actually live long-term abroad, they seem oblivious to what the rest of the world is actually like.
It’s mutual ignorance. Most foreigners are wiling to accept the fact that there are Americans with a diversity of opinions, but oddly enough, Americans are actually less willing to accept that other countries have closed minded assholes. I’ve heard some dumb arguments.
I also think these people pondering moving abroad really don’t know the U.S. worth a damn either. Chicago compared to its suburbs compared to rural Missouri are very different culturally. I think some of those people just need to move to a large city.
