This morning I sat down with a new book, intent only upon reading for an hour or so and then getting about my day (I should not my morning started at 10:30 AM, as last night’s vodka party got ugly in a hurry, and lasted until the wee hours of the morning). I started this:

And couldn’t stop reading. This book was really fucking good. If you like Bradbury, you will like this, although there are times when it feels almost as though you ARE reading Bradbury. I finished the damn thing and immediately wanted the sequel, which almost never happens with novels these days. It’s short, too, so even if reading isn’t your thing, you can make it through this.

Maher has never been “funny.” Insightful and provocative certainly, but not a laugh factory. Carlin walked the line between both longer than just about anyone. He skewed off into crank territory for a while, but right near the end swung back. I miss Hicks. He’d of run Maher and Miller off a cliff years ago (though Miller has done that to himself).

Home for a scrambled egg sandwich but the eggs are cooked in half butter and half garlic infused olive oil then sprinkled with black truffle salt and some asiago cheese.
Watch some hoops and spring training updates.
Then later today firing up the grill for some carne asada and some homemade (not mine) beans and tortillas.

I’m gonna gym today too, for running of the treadmill. It’s nice out and I could run outside but it’s fucking windy.
I’ve found that of all of the elements wind is easily the worst condition for outside exercise. I would rather go out in the rain than the wind.
I’ve walked outside the last two days and I’ve got to take it easy on my broken ass knees so it’s the stationary bike, weights and stretching today.
And pounding the fuck out of a heavy bag.
I stopped running outside years ago due to a series of knee, hip, ankle and heel problems. Switched to the treadmill and elliptical and all of them have cleared up.
Of course I then developed a chronic calf strain that keeps me from running pretty much at all but that’s what happens after 45.
