Additionally, I generally avoid any event which has “Skills Competitions” involved if it does not contain the word “Draft” in its title.

Here’s the rosters.  As well as the last minute Superb Owl/Injury replacements.  I seriously didn’t even bother to look closely.

But at least there’s no more of that “has-been” drafting bullshit.

Personally, the only way I could ever imagine being able to tolerate watching the Pro Bowl would be with the sound turned down and really really drunk (yeah, yeah….like every other Sunday SHUT UP!!!!!!) while trying to do Bad Lip Reading in my head.  And even then, the keyword is “drunk” (yeah, yeah….like every other Sunday SHUT UP!!!!!)

Non “Pro Bowl” Sports

I must say that I’m really enjoying the NHL right now.  Perhaps that has something to do with the Caps finally waking up.   And even if the Senators did end up punking ’em next game out, they bounced back last night in Jersey to coast into the All Star Break with the league best mark….as it should be.

Washington Capitals – 72 pts at the break.  Suck it, everybody else.

(yes, I’m going to gloat over that so that in the spring when the cup which should rightfully be mine ends up in Yinzburgh again, I’ll have this momentous achievement to reflect upon….wow that’s sad)

Friday NHL – HA!!!!!  Oh yeah….THERE IS NONE!!!!

(they’re also having a “skills competition“….just saying)

The NBA is going mostly as expected.  Golden State and San Antonio appear to be locked in a battle for the top seed in the West.  I doubt that changes much over the next few months.  In the East, Cleveland is pretty much holding steady (trust me, they are, in spite of what you might have read lately) as all comers approach and then fall back again.  As I said, nothing much unexpected.

Late Addition in Memoriam Type Stuff

Former NC State, NBA player Charles Shackleford found dead in Kinston (ABC11.com)

This man’s time at NCSU mirrored my own.  I knew him in passing, which is to say I met him a handful of times while we were in school.  He was more or less my same age.

Watching him and his teammates play, back in NCSU’s hey day, are some of the fondest memories I take forward with me.

RIP, Charles Shackleford.  To me, you will always be amphibious, Sir.
