Well, we made it to the weekend. I hope you’ve had the chance to have a cold one or six today.

The NHL Draft lottery is tonight. My Canucks have the second-best odds of getting the top pick, which they won’t get & if tradition holds they’ll actually drop 5 spots, or they’ll win, draft the kid, and he’ll end up paralyzed or some such tragedy. In that honour, I’m choosing to drink rye.

Random NFL thoughts for a Saturday:

  • I don’t know if I’m prepared to live in a world of Browns’ competency. But I guess that’s what the regular season is for.
  • A team that employs Pacman Jones & Vontaze Burfict seems a natural fit for Joe Mixon.
  • I’m not shocked Mitch Trubisky got the Doug Flutie treatment when he got introduced & booed at a Bulls game Friday night.
    • I’m only surprised that the Bears didn’t think that would happen.
  • Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara welcomed Sienna Princess Wilson into the world on Friday evening.
    • Maybe now John Schneider might draft more O-line help.

Finally, I don’t care – Drew Pearson was the highlight of Draft Day 2.

  • It was proof the crowds was searched prior to entry. Otherwise, he should have been buried under D-cells like Public Enemy was buried under chairs at Hardcore Heaven.

  • I can only picture a nod of respect from Fozz, before returning to our regularly scheduled programming.

So I got a pretty solid deal on a 4×8 tray and a 100 gal reservoir for my new hydroponics build ($140 total). I’m outlining for the frame this evening and putting together a parts list for the pump/drainage. Initially we were going to sort of ‘hide’ the equipment with like wood and corrugated metal or something like that. Since I’ve got to go through that headache for the builds in the front (going to do a few small water culture systems) I talked the Mrs into letting me 5150 this one with the only change being that, instead of red, it’ll be green.

I had just gotten to the brewery for open mic night when the draft kicked off. I turned to the guy next to me and said “I’m gonna laugh my ass of if Cleveland fucks this up and takes a QB this high.” Because I figured that was the exact kind of dumb shit move Cleveland would make. On the ride home, my sweet, caring mother tore me a new one. I mean she lit in to me. “You better not ever do that again! Your coach calls you, your ass better be ready! I can’t beleive that. You need to get your act together.”

Here’s a story about why i think my dad is the fucking greatest guy in teh world:

SO he goes in to the Air FOrce becaue he’s poor and wants to go to med school. serves his time and goes to university of md. but he needs a sponsor from the neighborhood . sponsors says to him, “I will pay your first semester.” Dad goes off to med school. almost fails out. sponsor says, “I’m pulling my backing.” Dad doesn’t now what to do. He’s a guy from little italy with no parental support.

SO he says, “Fuck it.” Goes back to med school without a backer. Pulls a solid B. Backer comes and says, “Okay, you proved yourself.”

Dad goes on to graduate, becomes a succesful doctor, delivers over 3000 children. remains humble, teaches me all the good things in life. now he’s getting older and slower, still says he love sme after every phoen call.
