It might be Sunday night, which signals for the return of the grind early tomorrow, but instead of dwelling on that, I’d rather look back on my week and enjoy the many successes that I manged in that time.
Work is work no matter what, but sometimes it can be downright tollerable. This week, I only had to actually speak to my boss once the entire week, and that alone is a huge win. Otherwise, while the work week was fairly busy, I felt very accomplished in getting a lot done, which also helped the time fly by. It also helps that I didn’t go into work on Wednesday because…

I went to Petco Park and got to see the Padres sweep the Dirt Packers. I will say, this was an instance in which I am very happy that I forgot to bring my flask, as I was at least 5 beers deep at first pitch, and the continued whiskey would have definitely put me over. It ended up being a great game, where the Pads took the lead in the 8th thanks to a 3-run home run by Franmil Reyes. In typical DFO fashion, our group had security called on us once, as the folks in front of us apparently thought they were going to see the opera instead of a baseball game, as we were “too loud” and had previously moved when they had asked us to. That minor transgression aside, it was a great day, and I’m sure they will be happy knowing that their remains went to good use.
Yesterday, I went to lunch with a friend who is shipping out to Northern Central Alaska for a few months as he consults at a coal mining site. He’s actually pretty excited about the gig, and it was good to get to buy him a couple of fish tacos before he boarded his plane later that night. I then got to spend the remainder of my afternoon enjoying some beers at Lost Abbey, having pho for dinner and spending time with the occasional lady friend. Absolutely no complaints there.
Today went by very quickly, but it was largely spent relaxing and visiting with my folks. I ripped out a lot of their old computer hardware and finally got them into the 21st century as far as their audio and visual aspects of their office, and getting my Dad up to speed on the new tablet that I got him for Father’s Day. It took a little longer than expected, but I still feel accomplished. Would’ve been nicer if the Padres didn’t blow a 3-run lead twice in the 9th and 11th for a walk off walk sweep against the Yinzers, but I still feel very accomplished.
