Actual product, by the way.
I salvaged this post from being a double Saturday evening Open Thread. I had it prepped in case Hippo had taken the wrong pills thought I was doing it. Having put minutes into its creation, it seemed a waste to put away the sweet banner pic until next year. #MarkChmura
NFL Nuggets: A lot, yet nothing, in the week since I last recapped the comings & goings.
- The NFL approved the 17th game.
- The 17th game will alternate between AFC host (odd years) & NFC host (even), and will be a straight division crossover game.
- One side effect of the 17th game is a bump in some players salary.
- Due to the structure of certain player contracts, if they were signed before the new CBA took effect on February 26, 2020.
- It has to do with their base per-game salary.
- Jared Goff will get $1.5 million because his salary is mostly based on games played.
- Tom Brady gets nothing because his per-game salary is league minimum, but his signing bonus is over $20 million per season.
- It has to do with their base per-game salary.
- The cumulative cost to the league is up to $48 million.
- Due to the structure of certain player contracts, if they were signed before the new CBA took effect on February 26, 2020.
- The Deshaun lawsuit count is now up to 21.
- Each one is represented by the same lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
- Who this week backed out of providing his clients’ evidence to Houston police so they could initiate a criminal investigation.
- He cited “potential bias” in favour of Deshaun Watson.
- Based on the fact that Watson’s lawyer’s son works for the Houston PD.
- He cited “potential bias” in favour of Deshaun Watson.
- Who this week backed out of providing his clients’ evidence to Houston police so they could initiate a criminal investigation.
- Watson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin, is taking the bold step of being aggressive towards Buzbee in the press.
- Essentially calling him a fraud at a press conference.
- Having 18 other massage therapists who have worked with the Texans and/or Watson give statements on his behalf.
- Each one is represented by the same lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
- There are 11 potential rule changes on the docket for the upcoming Rules Committee meeting.
- Changes to overtime – proposed by the league and Baltimore & Philadelphia
- Changes to kickoffs – proposed by the league and the Eagles
- Changes to replay & officials – proposed by the league and the Ravens
- Changes to penalty enforcement – proposed by the Rams & Bears
- Changes to jersey number allocations – proposed by the Chiefs.
Oh, and it was April Fool’s Day today, and while I care not for these types of monkeyshines, two were particularly egregious.
With opening day today, excited to announce we’re bringing the Expos back to the MLB in 2022. Excited to be the first player/coach/owner in MLB history. pic.twitter.com/Sre5y5LUL2

Fuck all of them.
One thing I do enjoy are the comic book movies. I grant they are not high-art, but everyone needs an escape once in a while. When you are a picked-on, often-beat-up kid in the 70s, there was little recourse beyond hiding/retreating to my room to escape to places where I wouldn’t be called a f*ggot for both being to weak to fight and too weak to fight back. Since my comics did a better job of raising me than my father, considering I cried when Stan Lee died but felt only relief after my dad went, I figure I owe them some loyalty. #WhyIDrink
And God bless James Gunn – they even made a red-band trailer, so there’s swearing!
That’ll do. I really enjoyed Rick Flag looking like offseason Derek Carr. Mind you, my guard is still up because the last Suicide Squad had a kick-ass trailer but the movie turned out to eat all of the ass.

Hi internet friends. Pretty pumped I got in. Shit is like an exclusive club!
Drinking with BC Dick, just got high, attacking his dad’s old man views. This will be fun.
Oh the whole fam is now arguing about ridiculousness and I am high and have a glass of wine.
BC Dick loves a debate no matter what side.
THIS GUY RIKKI-TIKKI-DEADLY I CALL HIM THE INSATIABLE EMILY WILLIS BECAUSE HE HAD TWO JOHNSONS PUT INSIDE HIM TODAY.
That’s right, I’m vaccinated, baby!
Being a 5g hotspot has its perks
Hell yeah! I’m getting my first Moderna tomorrow morning, I think I may bake a fucking cake! Gumby is two weeks out from his J and J today, so he is fully covered. Such a relief!
In honoUr of the Representative from the most Alabama part of Florida…
Pretend Man City is in a Shempions League group with Football Club Kobenhavn. There is an associated “youth level” torneo, and on my schedule timeline, Kobenhavn’s youth entrant is abbreviated FCK U19s.
Are they in the same group as Young Boys?
The Nestors? I think so, yeah.
Nothing worse than the stupidity of the Voltswagen April fool’s fuck up

Is it my imagination, or are there fewer April Fool’s jokes now? I seem to recall that in past years, every company, every web site, felt obliged to do something, and today I came across hardly any.
Well it’s been about 10 years since it was an original concept and any of them were funny, so it makes sense they’d finally peter out now.
10 years ago… That’s right around the time the wife left and the house got foreclosed on. And both arms were amputated. And I had that accident that removed the part of my brain that recognizes humor. Maybe that’s why everything stopped being funny?
Nah, it’s probably every one else being lame.
I like irreverance, and jokes of almost any varietal.
But FUCK ME do I hate some April Fool’s Day nonsense. Trite and cringeworthy.
I hate being online April fools morning
Gumby cancelled his subscription to Sports Illustrated because of the Sidd Finch thing. I think it was in the mid to late 80’s? He can hold a grudge forever.
Glad the April Fools is petering out online. It used to be worse than Facebook on 9/11.
I don’t think it is. Publicity is publicity. You have never heard Volkswagen so much in your life on social media. It’s a frickin’ bonanza of coverage!
The replies reminding them of their lying and, um, heritage suggest otherwise

Beerguyrob:
Outstanding post as always. You are truly a talented and gifted writer, and writing takes work. Writers write, as the old saying goes.
To the administrators of this website:
Get on the fucking ball. This website is a technical disaster. I don’t care how many lawyers are out there. Many years ago I was a nuclear engineer in the submarine service and if we had ever let shit drop like this we would have sunk. And don’t you blame anybody else. Be a man and fix it.
I love you all.
You’re not wrong.
We would have sunk.
Absolutely correct. Transferrin computer stuff is hard apparently.
Well, the stakes with a nuclear sub are different. Thank you for spraying your testosterone.
Don T, I hope I added fragrance to the carpet.
Peace and love, my friend.
Thanks big man.
I get tired of all the complaining about comic book movies. If you’re not into them, fine, there’s plenty of films being produced. They’re not preventing Martin Scorsese from putting out his latest film about mobsters, or whatever. (I like Scorsese fine, though The Irishman was tedious.)
I don’t care for the Fast & Furious franchise, or the endless iterations of white guy revenge fantasies that they’ve been making since at least the 70s, and many other genres past and present, but I mostly just ignore them.
I know there’s a legitimate trend of “middle budget” films getting squeezed out of the marketplace, but that’s due to long-term industry trends. If it wasn’t comic book films, it’d be something else that’s visually impressive and works well for international audiences.
we should be complaining about ALL of these things
Don’t get me wrong. I like them, but I hate it when they are made simply because they want to cash in. DC started strong, but then felt the need to become the “serious franchise”. The first Suicide Squad fell into this category – it seemed like a concept in search of a writer, and it instead got a director and $150 million no questions.
Yeah, I’m not saying don’t criticize bad films, or even say that you don’t like an entire genre. I do that all the time, including in the previous comment.
What I had in mind was a particular type of complaint in which people act as though the Avengers films somehow deprived us of “real cinema.”
The Rockies are beating those cheating-ass Dodgers! Go Rockies!
#BFIB are 1-0, Bastard Man Small Bears are 0-1. Let’s just end the baseballing season tonight, eh?
