Welcome to the Sunday Evening Open Thread, the closest thing some of us have to attending a service. So, let’s start with a hymn,

Now, with many of us being somewhere being agnostic and DGAF – because atheism is its own religion, and most of those people are just as nuts – on the religious scale, it seems somewhat fitting on a Sunday evening to devote some time to the great musical traditions that come out of  heritage. Because religious people are certifiable these days.

For example, a song you will hear repeated during [DFO]’s Euro2021 previews this June, and hopefully after many victories this summer.

Seems apropos considering they put Prince Philip in the ground yesterday.

The French have a national anthem, “La Marseillaise”, that is both a hymn and a battle cry.

Of course, we can’t forget the good old US of A. There’s many a fine song to be found extolling it’s great heritage. Two primary anthems come to mind – one white,

and one black.

Of course, the South will have it’s own interpretation of what it means to be true to one’s heritage,

But I think we can all agree on the fact that if you are going to have someone attempt a classic, you get the finest to sing the finest.
