Item the First:

For those of you not up to speed, U*NC (Seamus’ preferred nomenclature) revoked a journalism professor’s proposed tenure position because of her involvement in the 1619 Project and instead only offered her a five-year contract position. Nikole Hannah-Jones is a Pulitzer Prize and MacArthur Foundation “genius grant” winner. This campaign was spearheaded by the chairman of the UNC Board of Governors, who it was pointed out,

Item the Second:

BC Dick & I had a respectful disagreement about the size of a case of beer in BC. I said 12; he said 24.

It turns out, we can both be right. The BCLDB – the government body overseeing beer, wine & liquor production & distribution in BC – in it’s “Product Registration” Application package lists beer as only available in 6- or 12-bottle cases, but cans can come in a 24-can case if they are from a “commercial” manufacturer – a brewery & affiliate which makes over 350,000 hectolitres/year. (FYI – one hectolitre = 100 litres; at 355 ml/can, that’s 98.6 million cans/year.)
