The worst part about the offseason is trying to come up with things to talk about. Even though there is still some NBA playoffs to come – given its TV-friendly scheduling, it might be on until August – we are in a holding pattern until training camps start at the end of the month.

It also doesn’t help that the Tv market is so fractured that I can’t even count on the services I pay for to cover the sports I want to watch.

For example, as I raged about earlier this week, the Gold Cup is only available in Canada if I pony up for the specialized digital soccer channel. Sure, it’s only $100/year, but that’s on top of the TV channels I already pay for – which includes all the major cable sports channels. I don’t want to have to pay extra for soccer, rugby, AFL, and cricket. Sure I survived the pandemic with my job, but I want to have money for beers after I retire.

This is just me yelling into the void.
