It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times. See early in the nightcap thread for Rikki’s backstory on the wondroUs banner pic.
First, though – the “meh, I’m fine either way” battle of semi-likeables, Commies at Iggles. Lenin’s men took the pitch on offense first, and slowly progressed toward the dialectic. I swear, Jayden Daniels was at like 3 YPA (on 11 or 12 passes), they burned half of Q1, and made multiple 4th down conversions. It was weird enough that, maybe, they were some kind of Team of Destiny?
But then they took the 3on 4th and 3 inside the 15. On the first Iggles play, Saquon house called from almost 70 yards out. Philadelphia would never trail again. Not to say there was never a contested game going down, as the tide turned for good on the back of two WAS fumbles, leading directly to 13 points. First, returning a kickoff, inside of 2:00 (Q2), and down only 8. A Jayden octopus pulled the Reds within 34-23, and they had the ball back as Q3 neared its end. And they fumbled again, right after Ekeler stood back up after a short reception and stumble. Apparently this is a scenario that Sirianni preaches all the time, so I will tip my cap in this instance (I shat on him plenty this season).
Once we had a 3-score margin, Philly pinned its ears back and the score got out of control, ending in non-Scorigami 55-23 fashion. But this was a “clear and convincing” Philly win, as opposed to a true ass kicking. Washington played to win, not lose creditably. And they should be back for another crack at future Januaries.
But lo, we could not have a fun, alcohol fueled Iggles/Bills Mafia showdown. This is Not That Timeline, where fun and/or sane things happen. Brokeback was lucky not to throw TWO picks on the opening drive, which ended in a 3-and-out and then a KHuntDOWN. After a brief Prague spring, more BUF/zebra chucklefuckery zoomed KC out to a 21-16 halftime lead. With the Chefs getting the ball after HT, I spared myself any further indignities and went to sleep.
