YES, the portrait of honoUr goes to McNeese, for gifting us the fun story of Day One AND a fine coach-in-waiting for my Wolven Sort. Will Wade preaches “radical transparency/honesty” and I am 100% on board. This is as universally beloved a move as I can recall NC State making this century.
12MW McNeese (+5.5) v. 4MW Purdue (12:10, CBS)
Huzzah for full national coverage! Purdue should have the size to wear the Cow-Wolves down, but the same was true wrt Clemson. In THEORY. So much of hoopsball is about “want to” and McNeese plays with pants on fire and a yuuuuuggggge chip on their shoulder. Should be fun.
10W Pirate Kansas (+6.5) v. 2W JohnnyCakes (2:40, CBS)
Hat tip to Rikki-Tikki-Deadly for the absolute baller name of the century. John Calipari’s porcine/piratical squadron will try to make it 2-for-2 against Hall of Fame coaching opposition, after eviscerating Bill Self on Thursday. Classic offense v. defense battle, here.
5S Michigan (+2.5) v. 4S Team Bonfire Cult (5:15, CBS)
Gotta admit, I give zero fucks about this matchup. Perchance a nap shall be in order?
11W LOVE the Drake! (+7.5) v. 3W Texas Tech (6:10, TNT)
Herein lies the bestest chance for a Cinderella in the Sweet Sixteen. Drake can flat-out play, and might be the best-drilled side in the tourney. I never know what to expect from Guns Up!!
Ballsy will carry y’all through the night fixtures, as I am out of nonsense to say.
New thread!
Aggies with most appreciated bench contribution since Elaine’s birthday
I’m in a “Pick 16 Teams” thingy with a bunch of folks that I don’t know. It’s been going on for 16(?) years now. It’s organized by Mike, who was once a produce buyer for some business that went under some time ago.
Mike grew up in Michigan. He created a basketball court on the second floor of the unused barn on his parents property. He went to university in Canada rather than anywhere in the US.
He met his future wife while planting trees in Quebec.
They traveled around and got jobs in Newfoundland, New Brunswick and southern Ontario.
While living at the latter place he was blind-sided by a car while cycling. It took him 2 1/12 years to re-learn speech and motor skills.
He now works at an historical fort (seasonally) in the area for a pittance but he told me, “I’ve been through a lot and both my wife and I decided that we’ll do what we want to do and damn the consequences.”
So yeah, when I get that email from Mike the Monday before the tourney I’m not going to ignore it.
Gday from Arizona!
Beer, basketball, heat in the backyard.
Hate the Drake.
Not funny, Internet!
(runs into DFO Pantry clutching chest)
Who replaced the Nitro pills with Tic Tacs?!
could add Snyder as minority owner
That would just confirm the theory that the entire point of the universe is to utterly destroy Ohio
I mean, well done Universe, but you can probably stop now.
This can’t be real.
Lord knows I’ve uttered that phrase several times in my life for various reasons, but this one seems fake. I’ve been watching CNN all day in the background. If Elon Musk was buying a sports team, they’d be talking about it.
There’s nothing on the NFL subreddit either.
If I had a nickel for every time in my lifetime 2nd seed St. John’s lost in the round of 32 to a 10 seed I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?
and then could trade them to Pitino for a quarter
“Now now, let’s not scoff at the prospect of two nickels.” – Mike Brown
“The last time someone in my family scoffed-ok, to be fair, they may have coughed-I wrote them out of the will!”

Well, it’s good to know that taking a shower and going for a long walk with Senorita Weaselo has been a better idea than following this.
yeah i did not go wrong either spending last hour making steak onions and mushrooms, baked potatoes and green beans
Green beans? Are you a Communist?
No, that would be red beans.
Here she is.
I call her Excalibur!
/ gauntlet has been thrown
Show us your ball(s)!
Laid bare.

That’s a beauty.
Of course your ball is a raw hammer. Fucking of course.

You should win for your bracket name alone.
Catholic school + scummy coach = 🏆
Anyway, so that didn’t work out at all…
Start the damn madness before I piss myself. this not even one game on a time is the shits
The round of 64 is the best part, it’s all downhill from there
Ask for madness, get neuroses. Every damn time! 🤬
Been there…
Fuckin’ Loyers, man…
-Me, every Monday
I realized that all the lawyers I’m friends with hate being lawyers. One guy who works in immigration actively asks everyone he works with what they would do if the immigration system was magically fixed and not one of them said they would still be a lawyer
😁 /raises roof
New game for everyone.
Metal band, IPA or bowling ball?
First up, Motiv Lethal Venom.
.
..
…
A) Bowling ball
I got that, only because Gumby’s bowling ball was a Venom.
I still have my Ebonite Gyro.
And just like that I want Greek food.
I thought Brunswick had that market cornered.
It’s a whole different game these days.
I’m one of the last people out there with a hard rubber ball.
We just got our family summer passes. Everyone got shoes. I’m tickling with the idea of getting a ball. I do get tired of the inconsistency of the lane balls.
Depending on the oil pattern you might want to look at a reactive resin ball.
The game changed when each house started fucking around with various oil patterns.
I bought a bowling ball and had it custom-fitted a few years ago. I use it maybe once or twice a year, but it’s been a great investment. No more dicking around 20 minutes finding a ball that sort of fits and doesn’t have too many chips in it, and no more worrying that my thumb isn’t going to come out of the ball when I release it.
I still suck, of course.
I’ve had my ball since I got it for Christmas in…
Very old dude alert, 1975.
A few years back I took it to the pro shop because “The finger holes shrank.”
Guy at the pro shop was taking his time and he was even sniffing as he drilled it out.
Brought it to me, fit was perfect and he said “Sorry, I was getting nostalgic drilling an all rubber ball. Hadn’t smelled that in years.”
I backed out of the pro shop nervously.
I’ve got a Hammer Raw…
Careful, last time I said that it resulted in multiple meetings with HR.
Listening to a Bulwark podcast, because I don’t have the enrgy/attention span to start s3 of The White Lotus.
Don’t bother. I heard it sucks
Bulwark.
Now there was a moose who knew a thing or two about outsmarting Russian intelligence
McNeese more like McFleece because they tricked us into thinking that they had some kind of value amirite?
They got me on a 20 dollar bet. 1st loss since Louisville early Thursday.
I know who is going to be treating the party the Churro Dogs!
Looks like I will be flipping to the Wolven Sort womenfolk at 2p. This one is in the barn.
Spike Lee in the crowd with his loud St. John’s gear because of course.
I can’t watch St. John’s play without constantly thinking “YES! YES! IN THE FACE!”
He didn’t even go there, he went to (checks Internet) Morehouse and NYU!
/Neither did I but Madre Weaselo did, Padre Weaselo briefly did before being asked to withdraw, and I drive by it on my way to teach or home on my way to work no fewer than three days a week
“Man, being asked to pull out sucks.” – Antonio Cromartie
-Also Shawn Kemp, throwback to the 90s
“Pulling out is a sin, ppl forget that.” – Philip Rivers
“I don’t even know what you people are talking about”
-Deanna Favre
Why was he asked that?
McNeese, get your shit together.
seems they took your advice and it involved their luggage and fishing gear
tuff butt FARE
I very rarely have the conventional (eggs, toast, bacon, hash brown, etc.) brekker anymore but being alone I had it for supper last night. Damn it was good and as a bonus it brought back memories of making it for my boys when they were young and eating with my dad when we were delivering on the milk truck.
yeah its nice to swap between the different parts of breakfast and take your time to enjoy the salt and pepper. think my go to classic memories breakfast is French toast, bacon and some grits.
Breakfast for dinner is the best breakfast.
Was a hallmark of my Divorced Dad parenting!
I had waffles for lunch because I just got out of bed.
I wasn’t hungry until everybody started talking breakfast, so now I’m making biscuits with sausage gravy and fried eggs. It’s all yinz’ fault I’m so fucking chonky!
I’m at Ukrainian brunch with my parents, got some syrnyky (crepe with cheese and sour cherry) coming!
Sounds delicious.
Think I’ll get up and have tea, toast and jam. 2PACK sent some just delightful jams from Italy. One is a picante fig jam that is really tasty.
That stuff is the bomb. Enjoy.
Dude, the onion jam was crazy good too.
Onion jam Is awesome on a bacon cheeseburger.
at least you are compensating them for acquiring valuable (and delicious) minerals and resource
Padre Weaselo tells me about Veselka and we walk by it all the time (normally on our way to Cha An or St. Mark’s), someone has to drag me there.
I ate there all the time when I was at NYU! Soooo good, although I hear it’s gotten really popular with huge lines now.
One of my childhood best friends family was Ukrainian. I didn’t understand the unique cooking back then but would really love to try some now.
I’ll be in the area last week of April to see my Mom up in Milwaukee. Any other Clubhouse members in the CHI-MLK area? She’s in a nursing home that I’ll get thrown out of in the evenings. So if we can set a night I’m game for a drive to any location suitable.
grumble grumble that started happening to me too often too so I changed things up grumble grumble
She knows where her Kolache gets filled.
I’m not sure how she does it, but that woman is somehow the creepiest one in the relationship.
She has a dick, dude.
It explains EVERYTHING.
I might be in Chicago for a few days around that time, not sure exact schedule
Anybody else in the area? I thought we had one in the Kenosha area.
I’ll make my flights later this week. Ive found that just renting a car there at O’Hare and driving up I-94 is just as quick as connecting and less expensive. They really kill you on the short hops.
Yeah, and those short ones are always the first to get delayed or canceled
Connection times are tricky coming off a transatlantic flight. If it’s too tight and you’re delayed, you miss it. So the longer planned layover just makes planning on the 90 minute (70 for Italian drivers – wink) drive a better option.
My mom and brother are back in MKE. I should probably visit her sometime soon
Delicious and a valuable word to play in Scrabble!
There is a Russian lady on this season of Top Chef. She made syrnyky on the last show. She had some sort of jam with it that had tiny pinecones in it. The judges loved it.
Her food looks very appealing but I worry that the judges are going to think of her as a one-trick pony if she keeps doing Russian stuff every week.
Yeah, plus she’s older. They hate that.
/glares at Senate Democrats
I can understand that.
The players are gen Z now methinks? Let’s all feel old! (but not old enough to hold power in US politics)
It’s going to be tough for that vampire Peter Thiel to be frozen out of politics when he’s 163 years old because he doesn’t look “old enough”.
Bracket be damned, go fun teams!
Kevin Harlan remains at the pinnacle of the sports announcing world.

He really is.
Do you think players like hearing their coach is going to NCSU because, now, it means they all get to go too and enjoy that sweet sweet NIL bump?
Is “yochoko” the Japanese word for “bicycle”?
