Evening all, glad to be back from vacation and although we had a great time (the wife was ill through most of it) and it was nice to get away. The reason to go all the way across the country was for the spring releases of my wife’s favorite wines, or at least some of them. Beautiful vineyards, really excellent food, and relaxing surrounds is why I like going with her to all these different wineries. I found the most amazing weed store in Yakima although the town is a bit scary in places. Walla Walla, as usual kinda feels like coming home. We like it there, we can relax there, just really wonderful “vibe” as those darn kids say today. For those who care, we went to Slight of Hand (one of my favs for the staff and the music library), Saviah wineries, Reynvaan, Leonetti, and Result of a Crush. Another wine club joined, more cases sent home. Joy.
Really good food in Walla Walla as well, from steaks to Italian, Indian, and Thai. Visited Hot Poop, the music store and picked up some more vinyl for my collection. But the place I love to visit is the used book store Earthlight books, a labyrinth of book shelves crammed to the max, actual piles of books on the floor to sort through, boxes stacked everywhere, and that dry but musty smell of old books. I could stay there for days looking though everything, but this time something new was introduced – a lot of sadness. I saw so many books I read as kid and actually bought a 1943 paperback edition of “Spacehounds of IPC” by E.E. Doc Smith who was still writing under his name Edward E. Smith. This was the book that introduced me to SF and then to the Lensmen series, then to Clark, Asimov, and Heinlein and the rest of the old crew. But seeing so many of those books that I have read, the stories that I re-read again and again will basically disappear. Earthlight is run by an older gentleman who probably has no one to take over the shop, so we lose another used book store, another chance for someone to find stories that may seem a little out of date, but is a fantastic read. Not sure why I was thinking about that, but it certainly has introduced a bit of melancholy every time I pick up one of my purchases.
Anyway to cheer you up, pics of rabbits:
I am pretty sure there is NHL action of some sort or other tonight, plus at least one baseball game.
Please discuss below how the wind blowing at 15mph from the NE affects the Leafs play for the rest of their series (please limit each response to 10k characters)
