We just got handed one in meatspace, with Bibi Netanyahu v. the Theocratic Regime of Iran.  This will be very bad war-teevee, with nobody to root for.

As I mentioned before, the phenomenon of “sliding scale of support and hatreds” is one of the key pillars to the NFL’s success.  I can watch almost any fixture, and have some semblance of a rooting interest.  Even if there’s no real fantasy impact.

I have no idea if there is a “Fantasy Warfare League” – kind of ghoulish, I suppose.  But hey…waves at the Current Darkest Timeline.

Is this a conversation starter?  Fuck, probably not.  But I continue to give zero fucks about the Club World Cup, and am disheartened by This Week In #BFIB.  I do have an idea, though.  Fredbird Jorts Day at Busch Stadium.  Wouldn’t that be the loveliest of all promotions?  Don’t b all jelly smgdh.

I have trouble with this whole line of thought. The 787 has a great safety record, this is the first hull loss since it went into operation and it’s flown over 5 million flights in that time. Statistically, if there were systematic problems, they would have shown up far earlier like they did with the MAX.

I’m curious how this would affect the Maple Leafs playoff chances.

Additionally, if the Oilers were to win the Stanley Cup and then Alberta becomes a US state, would that then still count as a Canadian cup victory?

My takeaway from the Minnesota shootings is that if you are even barely competent with a gun you can hold off an entire municipal police force, because if you shoot at them they’ll realize that they might not make it to 45 to collect their first pension, before getting their second pension at 55 from a second force, before retiring on a full disability from their third job because their high blood pressure is definitely related to their job and not the fact that they’re 45 lbs overweight and haven’t done any cardio that didn’t involve a trip to the refrigerator since they left the Academy.

From the downballot politics site I frequent (and reports confirmed from BBC):

Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) was assassinated in the politically-motivated shootings in Minnesota; her husband was also killed. State Sen. Hoffman and his wife underwent surgery and are still alive, although I’m assuming they’re still in critical condition.

Republicans now hold a 67-66 majority in the Minnesota House because of the assassination.
