Only three games on the docket and there’s not much to choose from.

To The Games!

Jags/Raiders:

Someone has to play in this spot and I guess it’s the Jags and Raiders. Jax is one game over .500 as their middling offense (15th) and defense (21st) would indicate. Brady’s Raiders are already playing out the string and looking at their remaining games I see potential wins vs only the Browns and Giants. That spells out a 4-13 season which seems just about right.

Saints/Rams:

Shough around and find out? The rookie QB is going to have a hell of an interesting time with the Rams pass rush. Los Angeles in a walk.

Chiefs/Bills: 

This tilt is being called an AFC Champeenship preview but I don’t see it. Buffalo’s defense is incredibly suspect and needs to improve dramatically. As well, they seem shy about giving Cook the rock for 20-25 touches. But when they do they have great success. Maybe they’re saving him for the home stretch/post season?

a few years ago the las vegas raiders went to the playoffs and thought “you know what, we are being too successful. we need to hire a bill belichick scrub to tank our franchise for years to come! and nobody does it better than josh mcdaniels!”

If I hadn’t made a deal with the universe to preserve my fandom (after they fired Gruden and were dead in the water I swore that if they failed to make the playoffs I was allowed to quit them, but if they pulled it I was stuck with them forever) I would have abandoned the franchise after that disaster.

Speaking of Gambler, I watched the Colin Farrell Netflix movie ‘Ballad of a Small Player’ recently. There is a great twist towards the end, worth the parts in the middle where things sort of of drag. Would recommend.

I have done many manly things today.

-fixed the chainsaw, with only a minimal amount of swearing
-used the chainsaw on a bunch of of dead wood, with only minimal blood loss (got a splinter picking up some shrapnel)
-hiked in woods with dog
-went to gym with Mrs. Horatio, 45 minutes on elliptical while watching Halo on Netflix, even though I know it got canceled after two seasons and is too expensive to be brought back, so there’s really no point watching but hey, aliens go plooey!
-sawed a 6′ length of dead apple tree trunk from our* backyard for a friend who does a lot of carpentry, then delivered it and had a beer.
-mowed lawn without checking gas tank level or making sure I had gas in the gas can for refills, (and it doesn’t get more manly than that), ran out after finishing 95% on lawn.

Now it’s time for my favorite manly activity-sitting around in sweats drinking beer and watching sports while making dick jokes. HOW THE FUCK YOU DOING, DFO!?!?

*not really clear it’s our backyard, but I did bury a dog there so I think that trumps any property line bullshit
