Quarter-Arsed Hippo Thoughts – Divisional Round, 2025 Season

Writing this at 8p, figure someone will force the thing to post in the morning.  I’m just not particularly arsed.

Not that we had a BAD weekend of FITBAW by any means, just that my malaise has started taking over.  As is Hippo’s nature.

YES, I am finally starting to feel bummed about Nix’s ankle owie, after he was earning Hippo’s deep respect.  I don’t like the way the game ended via the officiating, neither.  Now, after an afternoon of watching P*ts fans (including a shirtless child of what seemed to be 11 or 12) jackass about the snow, I remembered why I hate them so very much.  And now my team is 95% likely to crap themselves at home to put them back into the Owl.  Where they’ll no doubt play Seattle AGAIN, and the talking heads will cream themselves about *THAT* game…again.

But hey, I didn’t have as bad of a Sunday as CJ Stroud did.  Seriously, they need to go HARD after Malik Willis.  Because…you can’t run that back now.  You’ll lose the locker room.

But you also shouldn’t gloss over The Drake’s 4 fumbres – most after the game was pretty well in hand (thanks to Stroud’s parallel, 4 pickerceptions).  It was just a slop game in fun weather, where the New England defense matched or maybe exceeded that of Houston – and Maye made a handful of good throws amidst all the chucklefuckery.  More than that, Boutte somehow had the game of career.  That one-hander beats David Tyree for “where the fuck did THAT come from.”

Anyway, 28-16 could have been even worse, and we will see how bad the 500s’ organizational hangover is in 2026.  I’d bet on “pretty doggone bad” but YMMV.

As the first half closes in Chi****, it is very clear that the Bearistocrats! lucky butt horseshoe will carry them one week further.  But they are gonna get FLATTENED in Seattle, so precious little reason to even arrange next Sunday around the NFL at all.  I mean, we all will.  But…meh.  Just all the meh.

Oh yeah, we ain’t talked much about the 41-6 losing Tomsulas.  Somehow, they’ll be fine next season.  It’s just how Baby Shanny rolls, and it makes no goddamned sense.
