Monday Morning Mock Draft: F*ck That Guy

Guten tag drones.

I’m leaping in here to try to get this down before our internet decides to take another couple of hours off.  Given the humidity here I can’t really blame it.  Any time the weather’s like this I’m ready to pack it in and go sleep in a shady spot by 3:00 pm.

So tonight we’re rolling with a topic I’ve been sitting on for a bit:

Worst character in a movie.

The rules are simple, and despite being simple will almost certainly not be followed.  The character must be someone from a movie, (no TV or other media), and they must also be a character you’re not necessarily supposed to hate.  Oh, you didn’t like Dino Velvet in 8mm?

You’re not supposed to like Dino Velvet in 8mm!!

Or Machine, for that matter.

Seriously, fuck that guy.

Other than you’re really only limited by your imagination.  The same actor can be taken multiple times, so long as each time is for a different character.

You can probably guess who my first pick is, since it’s the featured image and you’re all smart like that.

Rob Gordon in High Fidelity has got to be the most whiny ass bitch in the history of cinema.  And I like the movie! My reaction to Rob is so visceral it makes my dislike John Cusack, who is a very good actor and in general seems like a pretty cool guy.

Got someone worse in the comments?  Have at it!

Linda Lovelace as Deep Throat in All The President’s Men. It was so bad I can’t even remember her being in the movie.

Arnold in Pumping Iron. He’s a smirking asshole almost the entire time. He’s so far up his own ass that he thought this doc portrayed him in a positive light.

Doktor Zymm

Marty from A Cabin in the Woods. Such an annoying character

This is a great topic btw, there are tons of unlikeable protagonists out there!

Donald Trump in Home Alone 2.

Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry. (there might just be a giveaway in the moniker?) A complete shithead that doesn’t give a fuck about the rule of law. Dumbasses that didn’t think things through thought that he was a hero. The only reason that holds water is because he was pitted against even worse individuals.

We see this over and over again with the movies he directed and I think that Unforgiven is an over-rated bit of masturbatory theatre.

You want a quality ending? Anna Nicole just threw a computer disk into the skull of the bad guy from at least 30 feet away. Oh, did I mention that he or an obvious dummy fell over The Hoover Dam to his death?!

scotchnaut

I have it on mute but his last words were “Ahrggg!”

Brick Meathook

I draft this Hitler fellow in Triumph of the Will (1935).

I know we’re supposed to admire him here but there’s just something about him that’s seems kinda off to me.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If we would’ve gotten this guy a scholarship to an art school or a lovely Jewish escort in 1920, the world would be in a much better position right now.

scotchnaut

There is absolutely no reason for this shower scene but I won’t be skipping over it.

can’t narrow down the Owen Wilson movie character i like the least since i don’t watch them and cant remember them before I turn them off.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

Wedding Crashers is probably a valid selection here.

DJ TAJ

I’ll take Nurse (Louise Fletcher) Ratchet from the brilliant Milos Forman masterpiece “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”

Nurse

/currently watching To The Limit. (1995) Anna Nicole’s tits are playing a widow out for revenge against some cardboard Guido mafia dudes.

Any shower scene? Ladies do get dirty you know.

scotchnaut

I just scrolled down after posting the above comment, I swear!

scotchnaut

Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump. Take your down-home cornpone fuckery and stick it. “Oh, I’m a big fucking dummy with a weird accent that stumbles into big moments in history.” And the misogynyI I was in on the ground floor in despising that movie and character.

Rob Lowe as Benjamin Oliver in Wayne’s World. I saw that as a boy and proceeded to hate Rob Lowe until seven episodes into his Parks and Recreation run.

Really well done being a “Fuck that guy” character.

comment image

blaxabbath

Oh I missed that i wasn’t supposed to hate him.

Give me George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life as a compensational first round pick. Greedy fucking thief banker rips off the entire town and you all get together and throw on your scraps to make the system whole instead of stringing up that crook and making an example your kids could really learn from?

Stories like thay have paved the way for a lethargic, weak, “it’ll all be fine” ignorant US populace that put the State on this trajectory in 2026.

Hate that movie and hate that guy.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl in the animated movie “The Killing Joke”.

Barbara Gordon is my one of my favorite characters in DC Comics. But the way she was written in the unnecessary prequel story completely irritated me before they finally got to the actual story.

When you have me rooting for the psychopathic clown, your story has taken a very, wrong path.

Rikki-Tikki-Deadly

[am trying to think of a time when I wasn’t rooting for the psychopathic clown]

BrettFavresColonoscopy

Iris Gaines (Glenn Close) in the Natural

What the fuck.

scotchnaut

I admire Close as an actress but I don’t think anyone could have performed well in that part, it was so badly written, not even Daniel Day-Lewis.

My 3rd rounder is Francis, that woofoo dickhead…

He looks like a big toe.

Gumbygirl

The fake Irish girl in Caddyshack.

Sharkbait

She really was kinda useless to the plot of that movie wasn’t she?

ballsofsteelandfury

This is an EXCELLENT pick! Steal of the draft.

ballsofsteelandfury

With my third pick, I’m taking Miranda from Sex and The City. God how I hated her!

They should add “the Original Karen” to her description below:

I’m torn between making a joke about the “no tv characters” rule and being impressed you know enough about the series to analyze the characters

blaxabbath

“It’s a motion picture too!”

-Big

(Big is the only character I know because, unlike you, ballsofsteelandfury doesn’t impress me with this use of a top pick. It’s like taking a running back at number three.)

Redshirt

This is admittedly low-hanging fruit, as this characters hatred, derailing of the storyline and racial implications have been well documented and celebrated, but nevertheless:

Mesa supriseded that Jar-Jar Binks hasa lasted thisen longd!

Niedermeyer is my second rounder.

Mark Metcaf (sp?) left Hollywood shortly after Animal House and the Twisted Sister video cameos. He ran (may still run for all I know) a restaurant in the north woods of Wisconsin near the family lake cottage. My brother ran into him years ago and did the, aren’t you thing to which he replied… Yeah Niedermeyer… My brother said he was very nice.

Joel (Jim Carrey) in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He sucks and this movie sucks and everyone telling me it’s great sucks.

Note: the character sucks, I still like Jim Carrey despite current weirdness and rumors of face transplant or whatever.

It’s quite difficult for a crusading journalist to come off as an arrogant creep that has to have everything his own way and is his own worst enemy but, to his credit, James Woods pulled it off.

Sam Witwicky in Transformers. The Michael Bay Transformers series has…several…minor…issues, but having your main, audience-avatar character be a whiny, annoying person is up there.

You do have a point, but he does kind of grate on my nerves through the second and third.

Yeah I get her portrayal is the results of decades of sexist ideas in film that require the “woman” to be an antagonistic force, an

Speaking of, my second round pick is fucking Short Round. Damn that kid was annoying!

Gumbygirl

He was annoying in The Goonies too!

1. Oh man this is gonna be one of those drafts where I end up liking everyone else’s picks better than my own. I’ll start with Tom Hansen in 500 Days of Summer. I actually quite enjoy Joseph Gordon-Leavitt’s performances for the most part, but I was *not* a fan of his character in this movie.

Every single person who isn’t in the band in Titanic.

BrettFavresColonoscopy

Oh I’m supposed to be good with the philandering assholes running around doing whatever they want? The old lady that tells boring stories and throws away jewelry? Everyone sucks in that movie.

scotchnaut

It’s a point of pride that I can say I’ve never watched that movie.

Gumbygirl

Me either.

Agreed. While singing your doomed kids a lullaby as they get ready to meet their God is kind of sweet, you had plenty of time to build a crude raft “Irish Mom”!

Ferris Bueller. He’s a manipulative liar who is only focused on what he wants to do and dragging his friends along with it, rebelling against a loving, supportive household and friends. While he does care about his friends and family, he still forces them to do what he wants to do. At the end, he gets away with no consequences for his actions but for his selfishness, his sister will now have a criminal record and his best friend will likely be arrested and disowned by his family.

He’s the perfect microcosm for the 1980s: celebrated at the time, yet it caused far more damage that we realized.

He is such a whiny bitch in the first three movies that I was rooting for Darth Vader to kill his bitch ass.

Can’t a guy just go into Tosche Station and pick up some power converters?

2Pack

Cry baby show boater.

scotchnaut

Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. The movie is unwatchable for me because he’s ‘off’ the entire time. Was that the point? Was that how he coped with his disillusionment? Perhaps. But he’s far from a likeable guy in that film.

This was on a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised how disappointing it was. Never saw it as a kid when it came out or afterwards, but I agree.
