In these Off-season Open Threads, I’ll sum up the week that was, provide you with TMI-style information, and throw some random spaghetti at the wall and see if it sticks.
This week, I am devoting tonight’s post to the NCAA Basketball Tourney Semi Finals.
I hope you know where to watch. If you don’t, it’s CBS TNT.
***
First up, is the Zombie TWBSes versus the Boilermakers of Purdue.
If the Wolfpack win tonight, pour out a bit of freezer vodka on the ground for Ole TWBS.
***
Second up are The Fighting Lowratios versus Alabama.
If the Huskies win tonight, pour out a bit of Irish Cream on the ground tonight. I know Lowratio will.
***
That’s all I’ve got. Enjoy the games.

FACK YOU FOAH CALLING WHITE PEOPLE BORING
–Tawmmy from Quinzee
Oh man, this double vision while watching the race is awesome!
The best part is I can close one eye and see everything properly. Then open it and have all the fun!
Haha, they just showed the restart and it was 3 wide racing! Although I know it was only a two wide grid. Can’t believe they all survived!
Do you know what’s great about living in Los Angeles?
I ordered chicken & waffles with a side of hashhish and a bottle of Jameson.
And they brought it to my door.

For once, life feels human. Hear a solid concert, out for drinks because you’re friends with a solid third of the orchestra, then 12:45 AM Brooklyn pizza.
And now, potentially 8 straight days of playing! (Friday morning isn’t confirmed.)
I’ve been asked about Laguna Seca. I could write a million words about it, or really any race track, but instead I’m going to summarize it here. First, here’s a good first person perspective of the one lap around the track:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTMJFrH9J6w
So here’s the secret. This is very much a high horsepower track. Most of it is just stop, turn, and go. However, there is a part of the track where you can gain a lot of time. Now, most folks are familiar with the corkscrew, a literal 2 story drop with a blind entry, but that’s actually the meaningless. Everyone can go slow over a blind corner. Also, Rainey Corner after the corkscrew is the greatest track corner. You’re racing down a cliff and only the bravest ever push to the track limits on exit. The difference here from the corkscrew is you can see the entire corner and even the next turn.
Anyway, back to the explanation of making a good lap. I’m going to skip turn 1, as that is just a matter of bravery. If you ever go there, I urge you to figure our your braking. The first time, just bury your brake pedal at the 400 meter marker. You’ll almost be stopped by the 200 meter marker, but you’ll have learned. Adjust as necessary on the following laps.
Sorry, back to where you make up time. The corkscrew is everyone’s focus. But to make that time, you have to look all the way back to turn 5. This is the left turn before you go under the bridge. This is also the same place where the track goes uphill. Which very much means you much carry as much speed as possible through this turn.
The next turn is just after the bridge. In my street car you have to brake at the end of the shadow of the bridge. In race cars you can wait another 50 meters. These are probably different today since they’ve added a paved area on the trackout of the corner. Regardless, you have to carry as much speed as possible as this is the back straight and has the steepest climb.
At this point, you are flat out and heading to the corkscrew. Right before it, there is a right turn. You’ll want to be on the gas into that turn, and once you reach the apex, then you’ll be full in the brakes. Those that are timid will brake earlier, but you’re better than that. Also, you’ll be downshifting from 5th to 2nd gear while breaking.
So, now you’re in the corkscrew. There’s a single tree that is the sight line. Find this tree, because you cannot see where the track goes. Going down the corkscrew is just a matter of getting on the correct line and staying off the pedals. Once you’re over the first part of the corkscrew and can confirm you’re on the correct line, then you can lay into the accelerator.
Then get to the right side of the track and attack the best corner of the track, Rainey Corner.
Don’t put all four tires on the dirt or else this happens:

Oh fuck.
Yeah, expensive mistake.
This is outstanding!
It’s the best thing I’ve seen since my boat dove past 150′.
Outstanding steering going on here.
This is great stuff. How big is that engine?
(haha seriously Ayo good show, whether that was you or not. I look forward to one day giving you a ride on a freeway in L.A.)
That is not me. Due to the sound restrictions there, and the distance, I’ve not been there since 2015. Here’s the video of me at that time.

I’ve been on the phone for an hour with my first cousin, who is even more of a motormouth than me, as is that was possible. I have another twenty first cousins, and I love them all dearly and they are also professional grade talkers.

Sehr gut!
Can I interest you in a nice stable government job?
Sure! As long as it takes me under 16 minutes to edit my resume and fill in the application for enough positions that aren’t already filled for specific people and just posted for requirements. And I would prefer something with slightly less than a 50% pay cut
My mother was a contractor that converted to full time government, so I’m familiar with the bennies, but also familiar with just how fucked up the hiring process is. Not averse, just unwilling to put in the effort when it’s so much easier to get something better paying.
My kitchen is a disaster area and bereft of food. This is the last time I make Israeli couscous
