Punches back into content mine.
Well hello there, I hope you’re keeping well, it’s been awhile. As it’s the offseason and I currently am in a funk at work I decided to punch back in to do something creative ON COMPANY TIME.
Here is a random picture of someone who is popular right now;
I’ve been trying to get healthier by exercising and eating properly but from time to time the munchie monster sneaks back in while I’m under the influence. In saying that I’m transitioning from burning tree to using THC vapes and it’s quite the transition. I’d liken vaping to taking edibles in a way. When smoking a joint you are very much aware as to how stoned you are going to get as it is a pretty instant buzz. With edibles a lot of the time it is a crapshoot because they take awhile to hit, and then you get impatient so you take another one then BAM. It seems that the delay in mind bakery is about ten minutes or so with a THC vape so if your really get after it you get higher than planned, but there’s a bit of a delay.
Edibles: Case in point I once went out with a work colleague for beers to vent about our respective jobs where we were at a local brewery when she offered me a 25mg gummy. I gladly accepted and following that we had a few beers. (45 mins) We then decided to go to the pub where I am a regular and have a few more before we got too high. Well, we got there and decided that the 1st dose didn’t hit (does happen), so we each took another of the same dosage (just a brutal idea). Well, sweet Jesus a half an hour later they both hit which was nawt good. I’m not exaggerating when I say that we sat there, in a very busy establishment and didn’t say anything to each other for half an hour. We then looked at each other both immediately thought that we had to get out of there. I bundled her into a cab and walked home, leaving ¾ of a Guinness at the door. Lesson learned.
*Except when with BC Dick where we forget we took them completely then your knees buckle at the grocery store
A friend who we were supposed to meet at the pub then messaged me asking or whereaboUts. I explained the situation and the state of mind that we were both in at the bar. He thanked me for the beer as he knew it was mine that had been left at the door.
Now, why we are here. If you remember way back when, I used to do a column about random snacks I would find on my adventures to ethnic grocery stores with Decilitre that I would enjoy while stoned.
*We also can’t forget Ballsofsteel’s care package contributions to the cause. Exceso sodio!
Having said this, I thought I’d bring back Snaxx for a session or two depending on my malaise.
First up, something that was an impulse buy from Trader Joe’s when I was in Phoenix just last week.
Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Corn – Trader Joe’s
I’ve always considered myself a popcorn purist. Consider me litre_redenbacher. Salt, butter that’s it. It wasn’t until recently that my eyes were opened by BC Dick to Chicago mix. Cheese, caramel together? Blasphemy, but then I ate a Costco bag in one sitting and my popcorn purist views started to change.
I bought this product on a whim (wasn’t even stoned) because I do like some of the stuff that place produces. They’re so friendly there, do they get a living wage?
Review in four words, these things kick ass. You get the slight salt from the kettle corn itself, and some sweetness from the chocolate. There isn’t too much chocolate but warning. your hands will still get skid marks. The best thing about these is the wee freeze dried strawberries which give a bit of acid to them.
I will definitely buy these again when I am back in Phoenix.
Jerky Jerky? – Korea
These also were an impulse buy a couple weeks ago when I was in the Korean grocery store. I honestly didn’t know what to expect as they were next to the honey snacks that bamboozled me a few years ago.
I tried to look these up online but everything is in Korean and Jerky, Jerky does not do much in the old search engine.
I like snaxx, I really like Beef Jerky! Let’s give them a go!
First glance they’re very light and not chip-like. I would say they’re the consistency and texture of a Cheese Puff. (NAWT A CHEEZIE). They taste quite good, aren’t too salty and the aftertaste isn’t Malort like. Would I say they taste like beef jerky? No. They have a savoUry taste to them and are quite nice. Would I buy them again? Probably not, they are passable but there are better things on the market.
Me again!
Jimmy’s Bourbon Peanut Brittle made with Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon – Kentucky
These beauties were sent to me by our own Dok Zymm!
I will be honest in saying that I had never had peanut brittle before so I have no scale of deliciousness comparable to another brand. This stuff is the crack cocaine of snacking. I’m truly surprised that I didn’t eat it all in one sitting. The reason for this is teeth. I have a bridge for my bottom 2 teeth (hockey), and I am missing a back one on each side (Scottish). I was very worried about pulling out any dental work with this product so I thought that half the bag was enough dental gambling.
These things are sweet, savoUry, chewy, crunchy, they are just fantastic. The only downside is that they do stick in your back teeth for a long time.
Really would have preferred the Kentucky Proud sticker to be a Kentucky Pride sticker.
It is almost summer wine season which means whites and roses!
I am so happy that roses have taken the market by storm. We as a people are so far away from Sutter Home White Zinfandel compared to where we were 10 years ago. I remember meeting my FIL the first time who knew I was a wine guy and I told him that roses are the future for red drinkers in the hot summers. You still get the dryness, and some tannins but it’s still a cold beverage on a hot day.
When you are looking to purchase roses you must look at what grape varietal they are made of. It will not be 100 percent a white grape or it wouldn’t get its coloUr. Consider it like a red, where the bolder the grape the bolder the wine. The reason for this is the amount of skin contact that they get throughout the process. The pulp of the grapes will still impart the same notes that they do for the reds they create; it will just be muted. It’s the skin that imparts so much of the overall flavoUr. For instance, I love the Grenache grape in reds due to the fruitiness, light tannins but it is still bone dry. When this grape is used to make a rose it still imparts the same tendencies it would in a full bodied red just not as “heavy”. The boldness and taste will range in intensity due to how long they leave the skins in there for. When looking at a bottle of rose take into account how dark it is because then in most cases it will have more of the characteristics of the reds and having had longer skin contact.
Next time I will talk about environmental problems arising with climate change in the wine industry. Specifically British Columbia’s vintage for this coming year.
The Sunday scaries are in full effect for me.
